Help with Beta ClientFollow

Heya,

So I've been trying to get the Beta client to work, and I ran into a problem where it was downloading a patch but it wasn't actually downloading it. I searched and found this response from someone:

Here's my reply to the other download issues. As long as you're okay with some outside torrent program usage and some dragging/dropping, you should hopefully have success with this. I haven't tested it today, as I'm at work for another 7 hours, but give it a shot. It worked for yesterday's patch.

1. Open the FFXIV open Beta client, allow it to get to the step where it begins downloading files. This will ensure you have the torrents downloaded on your computer.

2. Open whatever application you use for downloading torrents. If you do not use one already, I would suggest uTorrent ( www.utorrent.com ). In Utorrent, File > add torrent. Point Utorrent to the following:
Documents\My Games\FINAL FANTASY XIV Beta Version\downloads\ffxiv-beta\d96437e6\metainfo

UPDATE: The patch folder this time around may be "bca2a8ae" so the above path may be, "Documents\My Games\FINAL FANTASY XIV Beta Version\downloads\ffxiv-beta\bca2a8ae\metainfo". I'm not at home to confirm, so my apologies for any confusion here.

In the metainfo folder you will find files that have the same name as the patch your FFXIV was trying to download. Select these files, and hit open.

3. Utorrent will now begin downloading these files to your computer. Based on your internet connection and security settings this should take less than 5 minutes. By default Utorrent downloads to the "downloads" folder in your documents folder. After it is complete there will be a folder called D96437e6, inside of this folder there will be a folder called patch, and inside the patch folder, there will be the actual patches

4.Copy these files to Documents\My Games\FINAL FANTASY XIV Beta Version\downloads\ffxiv-beta\d96437e6\patch

UPDATE: The patch folder this time around may be "bca2a8ae" so the above path may be, "Documents\My Games\FINAL FANTASY XIV Beta Version\downloads\ffxiv-beta\bca2a8ae\patch". I'm not at home to confirm, so my apologies for any confusion here.

5. Open FFXIV, it will try to patch again, realize it already has the information, and prompt you to log in.

6. Win.

So, I did like it said and downloaded the file using utorrent (much faster, thanks for that), and I put the file in both the d96437e6 and the bca2a8ae patch folders, but even after that, when I open the client, it still tries to download those patches, as if it doesn't recognise that the file is already there.

Am I doing something wrong or is there something else I can to do make it work?

Sorry if this is a 'newbish' question; I'm not very good with the technical side of computers.

Thanks in advance!

Make sure you're putting the right patch in the right folder.

I put the one that I downloaded with utorrent into both the 'b' patch folder and the 'd' patch folder, since the guide there didn't seem certain where to place it. Was this a mistake on my end, and if so, how can I fix it?

B folder is for the launcher client (also called the red upload as the screen is red), the D folder is for game updates (blue updates, since the updater is blue).

I just did this process 30 seconds ago and could play the game if I wanted to (got the login screen). There are a few updates where two patches were released the same day, and therefore with the same name. You have to ensure you're putting the right update in the right folder.

Ah, I see.

So (and forgive me for being useless), how can I rectify my mistake? I'm not sure which file I downloaded, but I put it in both folders, so one of them has the wrong one, but I can't tell which it is.

Seifer, I had that problem in the beginning, and I found these instructions to be of help:

You'll probably run into my current problem once you get past yours.
