Guardian's Favor applies only when hitting quest target?Follow

As far as I know, Guardian's Favor only activates when you accept a guildleve. I'm wondering if anybody knows if Guardian's Favor skill-up bonus applies only if you're hitting the target of your quest. What I've been doing is if I have to kill like 6 targets, I'll kill 5 of them and leave the last one alive. Then while the GF buff is still on for that 30 minute timeframe I go around killing random mobs since I supposedly have the bonus on. When I have 1 minute left I kill the last target.

However, I have noticed that the target mobs seem to give way more rank xp when you smack them. With GF on, I'll hit a quest mob and sometimes get like 150-250 skillup on a single hit, compared to only about 50 skillup/hit smacking around random Star Marmots. This seems to suggest that the GF buff might not apply to non-quest mobs and that I should stop wasting time and should just finish the quests ASAP.

Anybody know for sure?

Guardian's Favor is for your Experience/Class Points. Those only apply when you're hitting mobs, or curing yourself or your party.

Yes that's what I'm talking about, class/rank points.

He's asking if it only give a bonus when interacting with leve monsters, or can be exploited for 30 minutes of boosted gains on all monsters.

This might be SE's way of keeping people from abusing the buff. The actual leves only take a few minutes so I guess they felt the need to keep people from getting the buff and not doing the quest until the last few minutes.

I stopped hitting mobs that weren't part of the leve after the first few days because it seemed to be making me crash though it might just be coincidence.

Crashing aside, the question still remains. I am wondering if anybody has a definite confirmation. :D

I have not noticed either way. But what if you were to beat on the last mob a bit, switch to passive mode and keep your distance. Perhaps the mob would stop attacking you go back to his spot and replenish his hp. (this might work if the bonus only works on leve mobs).

Will test this later when I get on.

Have played around and would kill wolfs on the way quest targets and was definitely getting more rank skill ups. Once got like 300+ several times during one fight just for curing myself and a Pug I was partied with. Pretty much would kill everything in my path. These are the same mobs I would usually be grinding on in order to pass the time between leves. A huge difference I found.

Now my question is, how do I start earning back my Guardian Favor? I check on asses my guardian favor and all it says in how long until I can earn it back. I've read just doing leves will do this but i suspect there are other ways.

I believe you only get the bonus while killing mobs that the leve is for. I gave it a shot killing stuff while on my way to the leve mobs and there was no bonus.

The only thing you have to worry about is the longer you take to do a guildleve the less your reward will be... I actually haven't experimented with this myself, but I remember the devs saying that in an interview.

I tested this and it seems to give you a boost on all mobs but i'm not 100% sure - I was also thinking along the same lines as you, if you get a boost for killing normal mobs, we can spend majority of our leve quest grinding random mobs and then finish the leve at the end.

From a mining leve view (as that's what I've enjoyed most), you only get the bonus when it relates to the actual leve. So if I am to mine up 3 high-quality silver ore, I will get 700-800 skill points for mining one up. But if I get a bone chip from the same node, I will only get my usual 50-100. On the other hand, if it calls out for me to clear out 3 nodes, I get 700-800 per successful mine (15-50 on unsuccessful as usual).

From a battlefield standpoint (with what little I did test), it'd appear you only get the big boost during leve based mob battles.

As far as I have tested this, I can confirm it. I never got a big boost from non guildleve mobs.
