Muskateers guild in game....Follow

#1 Sep 07 2010 at 10:06 PM Rating: Decent
Hi all,

So I am not in the BEta but I noticed there appears to be a muskateers guild in the game but there is no job called muskateer available .... is this a hint of a new job or does the muskateers guild follow some purpose with the ingame story/NPC's like in FFXI where the city guards in Bastok were all Muskateers?

They're aparently some stingey group in the Lhama plotline that gives you a gun, then steals it back instantly.

There's also an Arcanist's Guild. Hopefully the next mage class.

musketeer and arcanist were supposedly also found in the dat files along with some other classes, so we may very well see them int he future, but its also possible they were scrapped.

A. I don't trust that class list.

B. Since Musketeers are like an "elite guard" sort of thing in Limsa I doubt it will be a playable class. They seem to be a part of Limsa's plotline.

I definitely see Musketeers coming out sometime in the future. In XI there were many classes that were part of the plotline (summoners in Windurst missions, for example) that weren't available initially but everyone knew would be released eventually.

As for the list itself, I approach it with cautious optimism (mmmm assassin).

The devs already stated these are classes to look forward to in the future. Too lazy to find the interview.

The white haired Hyuur in the Ul'dah starting mission is called a Bard by his companion. The strange thing is he wields some sort of Kunai D:

Also.. a bit offtopic. Have anyone else noticed that all the "main" characters in the opening sequences have a tattoo on their necks? The white haired hyuur in ul'dah, the miquote in limsa and the miquote Pugilist and the lalafell conjurer(?) in Gridania. My guess is they are from somewhere special :O

No. Ever heard of jo staves, bo staves, quarterstaves, etc? The staff is a very formidable weapon.

I thought staves made you a Conjurer when equipped, and wands made you a Thaumaturge. My Thaumaturge has a wand.

According to these two threads (credit to Puppy1):

Conjurers use Wands (1H), Canes (2H), Crooks (2H), Radicals (2H) and wooden Staves (2H).
Thaumaturges use Scepters (1H), Brands (1H), Cudgels (1H), and bone Staves (2H).

So for the crafters, it looks like Carpentry for Conjurer weapons and Goldsmithing for the Thaumaturge weapons

I guess my Thaumaturges weapon must be a scepter then...
