Should really compile a list of all of the extremely basic things SE has not included in FFXIV.

Only took about 4 years of constant nagging SE for this feature for it to finally be implemented in FFXI. So, lets get a head start.

This is just obvious. At least to everyone but SE. I tried checking out a Market Ward, one time and can not even come close to figuring out how they could think this would work as the main way for players to buy/sell goods from each other. No way to look for the item you want. Not to mention with all the slow reacting overly abundent menus, checking just a few character bazaars is a painful ordeal.

I know they seperated the crystals out into a different area, but it would also be nice to go further than that. Equipment and weapons in one tab. Another tab for items etc. Another tab to put my moogle remote AH pet. I can dream right?

Ive got some crazy OCD when it comes to organization of items. Being able to have a sort/auto (heals/spells/weapons etc) sort like the console FF games would be fantastic.

+14 to the OP, really no good reason NOT to include such a basic quality-of-life fix.

bsphil wrote:

Let's see here...

- Ability to change the order that inventory items, abilities, spells, etc. are listed in*
- Hardware Mouse (no, third-party fixes do not count)
- Ability to set screen resolution and other graphics options without exiting out of the game
- Ability to setup controller without exiting out of the game
- Ability to use the arrow keys for rotating the camera*
- Ability to alt-tab out of the game in fullscreen mode
- Ability to bring up menus with keyboard shortcuts (ex. CTRL-I for Inventory, CTRL-J for Journal, CTRL-A for Actions, etc.)*
- Ability to invite people who aren't in your direct line of sight*
- Ability to browse bazaars while moving*
- Ability to directly exit out of the game without having to go through Logout/Exit from character screen*
- Some way of saving your set spells/attacks/etc. when you change jobs so you don't have to manually redo them every time
(*: was in FFXI)

And there's more, feel free to add to this of course :)

How about when I want to equip a head piece (or any other weapon or equipment slot) list only the items that go into that slot (i.e. other head gear) instead of making me page through every piece of equipment I have to find what I need.

I want Rocket Launchers, but I don't think SE has it planned.

Check next update for Shard Rocket Launchers being the one and only thing they add, that would be pure sarcasm !

That's already implemented: Alt-Tab. ;)

As it stands now the old text-base adventure Hack/Rogue had a better interface than FFXIV.

Perfect list... that covers pretty much everything I was thinking. I feel like if it had these basic things it'd be such an amazing game already.. and of course a fluid / quick interface..

Edit: OH WAIT i forgot, no search function..

Has anyone played Just Cause 2? Square created that game and it is a FPS granted, but it is a game that was done correctly and came out about 6 months ago. I think they should pull that team together, not to make this game a FPS, but rather to bring in fresh people that built a really "right on" kind of user experience type of game. This isn't a negative comment, but more of a nudge followed with a wink.

Ability to switch classes and not have to re set up all your abilities. It's a real pain in the *** when I'm out turning beetles to dust as a conjurer and want to harvest the node I find myself next to. Or if I want to repair my crap, or make some juice.

Everything else I agreed with, but this one is a little strange to me. Unless you stay logged in while replacing your monitor you shouldn't need to change the resolution more than once. Graphics options, okay. I believe FFXI was like this too, though. The reason they are probably in the config(my guess at least) is that they would require a client restart anyway.

Being able to run when I hold both mouse buttons down would be nice. Also not having to go through the main menu to do things that I do often like farming or accessing the crystals. Oh and moving the camera with the left mouse button.

Was just published by SE, they didn't have a had in the development, which is why it was good instead of awful.

Just about every game in existence can adjust resolution in-game without needing a restart.

I was talking about the other settings in the config. It's still not necessary, at any rate.

Agree on the farming/crystals part, the other things seem trivial.

I was about to make my own thread that says the same thing as the OP... seriously agree, seeing my inventory so messy is annoying. I hope this won't be the case by release.

+1 to the idea of wanting only items that go in a certain gear slot to show up when selecting that slot. I'm already finding it somewhat troublesome to compare stats between gear (with the increased parameters) without having to sift through random stuff like Bone Chip.

An easy way to repair all of my gear at once would be nice. And I wish that they would stop putting things in that are time consuming to the player and have no real fun factor.

From what I can tell Q,E,A, and D all strafe, there's no turning buttons unless you use J and L, which are really camera turning buttons.

D and A turn, but if you're playing with keyboard/mouse, you'll probably be strafing with them instead as you're likely moving the camera around with right click.

You can set macros for your weapon and actions so you do not need to manually put them in everytime.

/equip main weapon "name of weapon"
/eaction 2 "Second Wind"
/eaction 3 "name of action"
/eaction 4 "name of action"

Just make sure you put it in wheir their are capitals. All lower case does not work. I used the action of Second Wind as an example.

That game makes me laugh so much when I play it. Everyone do yourself a favor and download the demo. Just Cause 2 is a blast. It is the only game in recent history that I have played, that makes me laugh so hard, because of all the funny things you can do with your grappel and the vehicles. Oh and someone on here posted that square didn't make the game, but rather was sort of partnered as the label or something. OK, back on topic hehe.

To be really nitpicky, Swedish developer Avalanche made the game.

Eidos was to be the publisher, but SE bought Eidos before the game came out, and with that purchase came the publishing rights for this game. Same reason SE is now the publisher for the new Lara Croft game and the upcoming Deus Ex sequel.
