Equipment Drops?Follow

I've asked this in a beta question thread but it seems to have died.. and instead of bumping it I'd rather have the quick question in it's own spotlight.

Quote:
Do monsters drop equipment of any kind?
I have been grinding my class rank up for a while now and have not come across any in my loot bag so far.
Is it a crafting thing and/or obtained from harder mobs only? Or just happens to be a very low drop rate?
(I have never played FFXI so I can't assume from that game)

Thanks in advance.

In the other betas i know there were some skeletons said to drop armor. I don't think it's possible that they will NOT have monsters drop equipment of any kind.

I would love to know this as well. I'm physical level 16 now, and never seen a single drop. I've explored 2 dungeons, and never seen a named mob. :(

Not sure if mobs drop equipment, as I never had it happen to me. I will say that I ran into a chest that had a robe in it, so there is equipment out there. Ironically, this robe is better for my gladiator than anything else I found so far, so she is running around looking like a squishy wizard. Feel sorry for the mobs that take her as an easy target though...

kinda disappointing. I love coming across named/rare monsters and going after loot. Looks like it's all crafted.

Hopefully they are just sitting on all the rare mobs and will put them in for release.

I once got gloves and pants together in one chest.

Also, check ALL your levequests (that you can handle) every cooldown because there's about 2 random pieces of gear for every level, in the reward section you can see which are offering equipment that day, and what gear it is.

So far that's been my most reliable source of gear

Yeah unfortunately. :(

I love random drops, but I don't mind NM hunting so...

I would guess that NM's or the equivalent will drop items used for crafting the exquisite gear. Similar to mobs like Aquarius and such in FFXI. This also gives crafters more of a purpose in late game if nothing else.

Has anyone ever seen an NM, or heard from a Dev that they will be added at some point?

I've only run into rare spawning mobs, they don't drop anything special, just more crafting stuff. (Like the Errant Souls in the caves outside Ul'dah)

I'm wondering about NM's as well. There are places where one should definitely be. I've only seen the spirits and the bats as what I would consider to be rare spawning tho. No gear. IF it holds the same as FFXI in design I would think chests and NM types would drop gear. Then leves of course. Other than that... Crafting mat drop rates are vastly higher than in FFXI so that would be easier.

Aside from NM's which I do not have confirmation of, when you get enough Faction points (100 minimum in one of the three factions) you can choose a faction Leve which is sort of like a 'NM Guildleve'. These leves drop equipment such as shield and weapons etc or at least I know they did in the last Beta. I've not amassed enough faction points in Open Beta yet and probably wont before retail so maybe someone else in the community has experience of this? I was rank 25 THM in last Beta by the time I had enough Faction points so you need to be a fairly high rank or have completed enough high level leve's.

Not the way Diablo or WoW does.
