Is there a way to make the camera follow my characters back, or am I stuck moving the camera constantly. I ask because I play on a laptop and that makes this quite uncomfortable.

It sticks to the back when you use Auto-Run, but I thought it naturally followed your back when you turn...?

When I turn left or right, the camera stays put, thought my character turns.

You can about-face the camera by toggling first person view (default V or keypad 5). It's what I do to switch the camera quickly without having to sit there and wait for it to rotate.

Try pressing the End key, it's suppose to reset the camera to the default position (behind you).

Here is the keyboard layout if you haven't seen it.

Ah so this game is very full keyboard friendly, and not so much laptop friendly.

I should say, I am playing this game on a MacBook Pro. The specs for it are better than my desktop; EG: CPU, and V-card.

Might have to do some reconfiguring.

I see that yeah it resets the camera, but I'm wondering if this is just Final Fantasy's camera style.

I'm used to EQ2, WoW's camera style where it constantly follows the character from behind. Not this kind of set camera where you're watching your character move as opposed to following your character's movements.

Regardless, it is something I can grow accustomed to, based on how well my laptop handles it in XP using boot camp, as that is my primary computer. I love the game so far, it looks amazing, the FMV's are beautiful and rich. The layouts are attractive, as well as the game play.

I am glad to have this Open Beta opportunity to try and offer assistance to smoothing out the game pre-launch.

I realize this is an old thread, but I've discovered that a single right-click of the mouse will swing the camera around and lock it behind your character in the way you describe (but only when auto-running). Not sure why it works, but I'm very glad it does!
