It's funny how a simple thing like a new helmet and a new robe can do to draw you even closer to this game. I took a few pictures of how awesome I feel.

That Jester's hat is great. I personally can't wait until people are crafting this stuff and dyeing it different colors.

What i like is how every little detail of equipment is shown. Rings, earings, wrist, neck, etc.

And i love how when you toss something in your bazaar it frees up that slot in your inventory.

And how it looks when we synthesize. So cool to actually see your character using a skillet/hammer/needle

And of course.. FISHING.

and what I hope is that the PS3 will be capable of handling that kind of detail.

I just made one of those helmets for my gladiator today and got a robe that looks just like that from a levequest yesterday. I equipped it and the first thing I thought when I looked at my character was, "He looks like Magneto..."

Then I went to the weaver guild to pick up some tools and get rid of some moko grass and was like, "Magneto learns to crochet, ***************

Ya, it was awesome.

Honestly? Alchemists who know how to farm and synth dye are gonna make BANK. Even though the color of your gear has no bearing on game mechanics, I predict people will drop plenty of gil to get gear in the color they want.

Although, knowing SE, maybe color WILL have a bearing. They're big fans of hidden systems -- or at least, their fans are big fans of bolstering rumors of hidden systems.

Yeah I can see it now "No, you noob you have to have red gear on your CON so while fighting these, so your fire spells have more potency".. "so you mean I should carry one color of each gear set?"

After Magneto learned to crochet, he set up his still and learned how to turn muddy water into distilled water. The little ****** then proceeded to blow up all of my rat skins (because apparently rat skins are hard to tan, amirite?) but not before blasting through a couple of levels of alchemy on a handful of fire shards and cheap muddy water. Something tells me alchemy will be a very popular profession once the game goes into full swing, and it's the easiest one I've seen so far to get started with.

For me, it's not about the aesthetic value of armor (ask anybody who played with me on Garuda that saw my Galka running around in my Pisces Subligar), or getting the next Sword of Awesomeness +1.

It's about the community. The friends I've made over the years who will be coming together again for FFXIV.

I agree 100%. I have been playing mmorpgs since everquest came out, and the FFXI community was the best i've ever seen. It was the one thing that always made me go back to that game. I am positive that ffxiv will share the same experience. I have such fond memories of all of the parties, even the bad ones. I made friends that I still talk to this day.

Oh yes. A fanboy, masochistic playerbase that believes their archaic game trumps all because it takes forever and a day to wipe your *** and begins foaming at the mouth when anyone wants a single thing to actually be slightly more casual.

Sure. I guess people that like getting nut punched at the moment of ****** would be comfortable around like minded people.

Well, I stumbled upon one of the biggest chocobos I've ever seen:
http://img801.imageshack.us/f/1284222696.jpg/
(should be able to hit left arrow to see another shot of it).

Spotted him at the ferry near Uldah. About 2x the size of the tallest hyur size. I mean the choco in Limsa is about one Hyur tall.

I've also got various other screens from doing some exploring, mostly for a friend who can't play beta.

don't troll my thread please. if you don't like the game, and act like this to the community, we really don't want you in said community.
