Limsa Lominsa:

1. From Adventures Guild(Place where you get Leves) to first camp (Bearded Rock) 2mins 35second walk.
2. Ferry is in the town to take to Thanalan (Zone outside Ul'dah).
3. It is its own island. One zone: La Noscea
4. Probably a perfect spot to start Fisherman.
5. Adventures Guild(Place where you get Leves) is located on the top floor of the city.
6. It's a long walk from the market places in Limsa Lominsa to La Noscea.
7. Ferry takes approximately 9mins 15seconds (Not counting the waiting for the ferry. Threw in about 10secs for the cutscene boarding).
8. Limsa Lominsa to Ul'dah gates it takes 19mins 39seconds(Counting the ferry trip time. Granted probably more because you have to wait on the ferry).

1. You're inbetween both major cities.
2. Market places is easily accessible from the main zone(Thanalan) to inside the city.
3. From Adventures Guild(Place where you get Leves) to first camp (Black Brush) 2mins 35second walk.
4. Thanalan is a extremely massive zone.
5. Has two zones: Copperbell Mines, The Black Shroud

Posting more later on. Feel free to add anything and I'll edit it in later. Mainly doing this for people not in beta and deciding what city to pick come retail day.

I like all the city's,but im gonna personally pick Ul'dah. Was just the easiest to navigate for me.I did the same thing back when i played FFXI i loved Bastok cause it was just so easy to find everything.Even after playing for a long time i still got lost in Windy.

I love the battle music outside Ul'dah, compared to Limsa and Grid it wins hands down.
However ill still start in Gridania as I love the environment, im sure ill hear the battle music around somewhere else anyways Smiley: wink

If we hit that bullseye, the rest of the dominoes should fall like a house of cards. Checkmate.

Seems they carefully placed the first camps in every city. It's 2mins and 35 seconds from the Guild to the camp. Haven't tested Gridonia yet though. I have a sneaky suspicion though

I played for a bit in Gridania and it seems to be a little hard to navigate at first. Some of the things I do like is that the town and the surrounding areas are very "pretty". The leveling there seems to be a little off and on depending what level you are but for some reason it does seem (to me at least) that it has a better concentration of mobs if you know where to go.

Haven't tried Limsa much at all, it just doesn't seem very appealing to me. Ul'dah on the other hand is another great city, much easier to navigate too.
Final Fantasy XIV
Character: Ryiah Nustar--Dunesfolk Lalafell♀

awesome intro pros lol
+ limsa intro: get to see leviathan (from benchmark XD)
+ gridania intro: get to see hungry tree and moogles :)
+ ul'dah intro: get to see miqo'te panty girl festival and a battle; goobbue versus wall... (wall wins)

of course my points are just for the fun of it. and i hit the spoiler button just in case.. =/

If I start in a city that doesn't have a guild for my class, will I be forced to make many trips to the other cities for class advancement requirements to be met (or whatever)?

I was hoping not to feel compelled to choose a city based on my starting class.

its not a big deal, you dont need to. plus cities are easy to reach if you 'neeeed' to go somewhere to get a quest or something. everything is accesible per-city.

i came across a small building in limsa lominsa that was for i think lancers or something that the city didnt specialize in, but they still had a small 'embassy' type of ordeal set up.

pick the city you like, cause theyre all so different and you'll be in the starting zone for a good twenty levels! It's important you pick one you like - windy cloudy mountain plains, sunny dusty desert wasteland, or mazelike claustrophobic copy-paste forest? (I dont like the black shroud :P )

Limsa also has a large number of monsters, many mining and logging points, many monsters drop wind shards and fire shards/crystals. It is also pretty and atmospheric if you want to count to that. The good thing about the ferry is you can fish while there or just walk off and do something instead of running.

limsa is pretty when its sunny, which is only 10% of the time. the rest of the time its stormy, or just calm but with a dark and ugly overcast, making it constantly feel like depressing winter mornings irl
