I played FFXI for a couple of years before switching over to WoW. I'm interested in getting FFXIV, and I have a couple of questions about it.
1. I remember gold farmers being a really big problem when I played. I quit around the time NM drops turned to Rare/Ex, but I always remember HNMs being claimed before they could even spawn. Basically, these guys were put a huge damper on my experience. I've heard that the retainer system is supposed to somehow combat RMT, even though the retainers plus a search function basically sounds like an AH to me. So my question. What are their plans for combatting gold farmers?
2. I remember traveling being a real time sink. Now don't get me wrong. I really don't like the idea of 'fast travel'. I want to experience travel, but I don't want my party to take 2 hours to get to a leveling spot. I've read about the crystals, but I haven't actually seen how much they help. I mean, there were the teleport things in XI, but that only helped a little. Thoughts?
3. Death. Big setback in XI if I was in, uh, that area with the Tonberries and my home point was somehow still in Jeuno. Are they going to put in graveyards like WoW? Ok that was a joke. But seriously, maybe they liked the way XI was. I'm just wondering if they're doing anything different from that.
That's all I can think of for now. Thanks!
