Thoughts on Future Classes? Follow

Point me in the right direction if there's already a thread about this.

Just wondering what people think some of the newer classes are going to look like somewhere down the line? Assuming they add new classes in future expansions. I would personally love to see a PUP class again (or even SMN), but in this new world of Eorzea there are many new and exciting possibilities! (Probably).

Also, we could potentially (and probably will) see new DoL and DoH classes in the future, which is so much cooler than just adding synergy >.<

I already posted a link to a list of the currently (or at least current at the time of its creation) planned classes. Some sound very interesting...let me find it again.

Found an even clearer copy. Yay!

Afraid Pugilist is your answer. Try to think of them as more of a back-alley brawler than a monk. They focus on evasion, and even *had* Steal (SE seems to have removed it during Open Beta but it was around Rank 18).

Sephrick's right. Talking to the Pugilist Guild members you get an overwhelming sense of 'if I were in an alley at night with one of these people I would wake up in my underwear in a dumpster'.

One of them even tells you the only way to get ahead in life is to cheat other people. Sounds very thiefy to me.

I think the game could use a pet class or two also a class that uses guns or crossbows.

I'm looking at Arcanist and Mystic to be a pet class of some sort >.< I LOVE pet classes in most games, and I was slightly disappointed that there wasn't one initially for FFXIV

Possible. But I'd expect them both to be non-MP magic users. Like ninja in XI, I could see Anarchist being an item-using CON and a Mystic an item-using THM. Of course, this is basing it on the name alone.

I too have always loved pet classes, given the names in the above post I think the best odds are with
Shepherd
and flayer... but only because they use a whip...

Where did that come from. Looks like someone just pulled that our their Rear.

Personalty i think that musketeer will be a class at launch. Its the ONLY guild in the whole game that does not already have a class available to play.(or maybe that's just a hope :-p)

Could be. Apparently there were .dats for them in the beta files.

It's worth noting that in Limsa Lominsa, there is an Arcanists' Guild, and an NPC states that she sells wares for "Harveters, Miners and Shepherds."

I would like there to be a pet class, I probably won't be playing it, but I think every fantasy mmo should have a pet class.

For myself I am hoping they release some sort of mechanic or engineer or w/e. I'd like to see something with a little higher technical advancement than the pure fantasy style classes.

If there's an Anarchist class, they'll do whatever the **** they want to do and there's nothing you can do about it.

So, a summary for those who didn't look at the pic:

In the Disciple of War:
-Adventurer (SPN), for Suppin, the japanese name. Most likely a place-holder class that actually can't be used, as the weapon type is called "unarmed".
-Fencer (FNC). Rapiers and such, probably
-Enforcer (ENF). Clubs. The french name "Massier" really means "Someone who fights with a mace"
-Musketeer (MSK). Guns. We all expected this one. The french name is "Fusilier", which basically means "Gunner"
-Samurai (SAM). Great Katana. How could Square ever skip that class, really?
-Stavesman (STV). Staves, as the name suggests. The french name "Maître d'armes" actually means "Weapon Master", oddly enough. I wasn't expecting a staff-melee class, I must admit.
-Assassin (ASN). 'Dark Arts' is what they call their weapon type. I'm going to assume it's going to be short katanas and ninjutsu, to oppose Samurai's Great Katana.
-Flayer (FLA). Whips! The much-requested weapon for dancers in XI.

In the Disciple of Magic:
-Mystic (MYS). The weapon type is called "Mysticism". The Mystic Knight in FF5 is a possible link to this class, so perhaps a RDM-type mage with lots of offensive enhancement magic?
-Arcaniste (ARC). The weapon type is "Arcanima". Germans call it the "Hermetiker" class. Hermetic mages during the Renaissance believed in the four elements, a single god and reincarnation.
-Bard (BRD). The weapon type is called "Musical" in english and "Singing" in French, but we all saw the multiple characters playing instruments in the open beta, as well as the ul'dah character refered to as a bard. Personally, this one makes me very happy to see back :)

In the Disciple of the Land:
-Shepherd (SPH). The weapon type is called "Herding". Perhaps the beastmaster many are waiting for, but why is it considered a gathering class? Maybe it'll be like Ultima Online and you can run from mob to mob and cut the wool off them... assuming you get there before other players kill it?

That is all.

My thought would be that they can focus on "harvesting" skins, meat and fur along with bones and and a few other things.

I remember SE stating that they weren't going to add pet classes at launch due to them being difficult to balance, which is pretty understandable. I'm expecting to see one in a future expansion.

Phantasy Star and Ragnarok Online were the only online games I've seen that had classes with whips, so it would be really interesting to see how SE handles it if they choose to implement Flayer. Exciting things to look forward to in the future!

Hopefully like this :

Party member 3 isn't using food!~
Flayer uses Corrective snap - Party member 3's character automatically eats food.

Party member 2 is a BRD and being a princess.
Flayer uses Dominating spank - Party member 2 loses 500 skill points.

Party member 4 is spamming <call> in macros and AFKing while engaged.
Flayer uses STFUGTFO lash - Party member is KO'd and automatically HP'd

And the AF would looks something like this.

/dream.

Definitely want a Samurai class - I always loved the Samurai in FFXI and its AF kicks *** tbh just imagine how much better the class would be all around in FFXIV - not only are the graphics better making for (most likely) sweeter looking armor but you get 10 fold as much abilities as you did in XI which would make it a ******** of fun to play.

BTW an idea just came to me;

Since crafting professions are considered classes in this game I would assume they may release new ones through expansions or updates and what have you - so maybe for a new crafting class it could be something electronic (as in Eorzea is advancing with time) - we already know the Garlean empire is advanced technologically so this isn't too out there. Maybe an engineer crafting class specializing in robotics or something and they can build weapon enhancements (of course i'm not talking about zoom scopes or anything stupid like that but maybe as an example I'll use the gun blade - and even guns in general)..I dunno i think this would be pretty cool.
