Advice on graphical issueFollow

#1 Sep 11 2010 at 7:49 AM Rating: Excellent
I have an upwards scrolling bar when I am running in the game. As I start to run the bar (about 2cm in height), gradually scrolls up the screen slowly until it reaches the top and then starts again from the bottom. It can best be described as a an area that is slightly more pixelated than the rest of my screen. I run the game on fairly high settings and have tried several times to toggle in-game and graphic card settings on/off. Does anyone else have this issue and if so did you manage to fix it in some ways?

For information I am running on i5 750 @4.Ghz with a 1GB HD5850.

Would like to try and resolve this before release. The game looks gorgeous but this is a tiny bug thats starting to get to me as everything is else working very well.

Assuming you made sure to update your drivers and tried every game setting including different resolutions, let's look at a weirder and more unlikely possibility!

In video, ground loops can be seen as hum bars (bands of slightly different brightness) scrolling vertically up the screen. These are frequently seen with video projectors where the display device has its case grounded via a 3-prong plug, and the other components have a floating ground connected to the CATV coax. In this situation the video cable is grounded at the projector end to the home electrical system, and at the other end to the cable TV's ground, inducing a current through the cable which distorts the picture. As with audio ground loops, this problem can be solved by placing an isolation transformer on the cable-TV coax. Alternatively, one can use a surge protector that includes coax protection. If the cable is routed through the same surge protector as the three-prong device, both will be regrounded to the surge protector.

Also, I had something similar happen to me before I ditched my old VGA cable and used HDMI instead.

Good luck!

My roommate and I have experienced the same thing. It's something with either the code, or graphics setting. I'm not sure who needs to fix it, if it's a driver issue, or if it's an S-E issue.

I've ignored it for the most part, but it would be nice to get fixed. I don't know the details of my GPU at home, so sadly I can't really post any information here for analysis. I think, however, that I am running the 1.6 ATI Catalyst drivers.

For what that's worth.

i had this issue as well, its a easy fix though, go download D3DOveridder and force vertical sync and triple buffering with that, ATI's force vertical sync doesn't work as well. this issue will 100% disappear and also make the game look better. This program also makes FFXI vertical sync with ATI cards work perfect.
