So what happens now?Follow

OK, so, I'm in my town. I've finished the 'newbie' quest, I've rubbed elbows with interesting characters and have the combat and interface pretty well down as a result. I've run all the levequests the guild will give me except the crafting ones, and the ones rated 10+.

So... what's next? Is there more plot? Are there more quests to be had some way? I'm still several levels too low to tackle those 10+ levequests. What happens now? I've run all over town talking to people, seeing if perhaps a cutscene or conversation or new quest will trigger... Hmm.

As it currently stands, there are no other quests in the game aside from the starter quest and one once you reach rank 10. This is for each town.

As you're waiting to work on level 10 leves, you can either grind out rank skill points by fighting monsters out in the field, or your could go to the crystal and offer to help people with their leves at an increased difficulty.

Personal experience has lead me to believe rank 1 and 10 leves really aren't great for gaining skill unless you solo them with Guardian's Favor. Even if you increased the difficulty on rank 1 leves, you'd probably level up faster simply grinding mobs with your weakest move.

That being said, it's not everyone's cup o' tea.

Seriously? You're telling me that FFXIV is two weeks from launch and they have almost no content in place?? Am I understanding your post correctly?

They're saying FFXIV is still in beta and 3/4th of the content isn't.

It's likely that after 5 years of development, there is no content. Nice assumption.
Nobody really knows except SE at this point, but honestly... do you think they would release a game with no content?
Open Beta isn't here to showcase the content they... actually before I continue... actually wait... I won't continue...

It's beta. Would you like to know everything before you buy the game? Why buy the game if you know the storyline D:

They're saving most of the stuff for release. Why would they spoil the entire storyline before the game even starts?

Also, you can do more main missions in your town, each 10th level. reach LVL 10 and talk to that adventurer guild leader again. And do so again at lvl 20. This beta is to test servers, and basic functions (which are what needs the most work), not to let you play the unlimited full game for 2 weeks.

Complaining about low content now, is like complaining that a typical demo only has 1 level. And saying SE doesn't have more in store at launch is like saying 'that game only has 1 level' based on a demo..

'What happens now' is you either keep exploring what they have let you play around with. Or make your decision about purchase, stop playing, and wait for the FULL game.

Go to Adventure Guild, talk to every NPC until someone gives you LeveQuests & others
Then you go to the Big crystal thing (I know there is a name for it) outside of town, click it and start playing~

When I read things like this I feel SE should have had some manner of logic test you had to pass before you were allowed to obtain a Beta key. It also would have curbed a great deal of the incessant belly-aching that has plagued the boards in the past week. Never seen so much whining over something people are getting for free.

It may shock some, but there is actually quite a bit to do if you are interested in more than just hack/slash monster mayhem. Also there is huge (albeit very dangerous) world to explore. They can do great things with this game and as nothing is set in stone anything can be fixed.

There should be a lot more in the live version. Unless they want to tease us with the invisible walls and gates, as mentioned above.

I've spent a lot of time exploring, and it's a blast. Did you know that there's a hidden port town guarded by pirates in Mistbeard Cove? Take a look. it's blocked off for now, unfortunately, but it's quite an adventure getting there.

Also, have you ventured north to watch the sun rise over Ishguard (Jeuno v2.0)? That's also quite a neat site.

It's always fun trying to "Sam Fisher" around scary mobs to try and tag some of those far-reaching crystals. Have you seen the giant toad monsters yet, the snake/lizards? Have you seen the Apkallus, or the camps of Qiqirn-like monsters?

Really, I wouldn't expect too many quests and such to exist in open beta, but there's plenty to do out there. I've spent most of my time exploring, planning out strategies for launch, finding decent exp camps and things along those lines.

In the end, your character is going to get wiped, so might as well spend you time learning as much as you can about the game and spend less time doing things that will only disappear on the 19th.

Happy hunting!

I wasn't really paying attention to the storyline, but did anyone else go to the musketeer's guild in Limsa and start a new cutscene?

Just to be clear, I am not belly-aching and I'm not whining about something I'm getting for free. I love the game. I want to *continue* loving the game. I've just never seen this approach.

I've played many betas, I've never seen or heard of one that withheld all of its content until launch. If that is indeed what they are doing then hey! Happy day. Glad to hear it. I just haven't been able to find official word on that subject.

I'll back this. During alpha they said there was about 10% of the games final content. To my knowledge nothing or very little was added up until Open Beta(I was only in B3 for closed). So with the addition of two new starting areas and outlying I would say the game is probably at 40%-50% right now. There are a lot of closed off little towns and areas, and I don't believe that all the quest content is here. This absolutely is not all the zones that will be at launch.

i'm not gonna look up a link for a month old interview, but if you'd like to find it, I'd try the Q&A sessions around the surplus xp explanations.

Fixed to the verb form, the way I've been using it for years in xi. :D (I'm probably the only person who didn't use silent oils/sneak to get to kirin or walking back to the exit from MG.)

The official announcement was about Closed Beta. SE said something like there is only 10% of content in the game. There is no official announcement about OB and everything about content said so far are assumptions. I can only hope Beta has only 50% of the content of the release version. But past experience with many Open Beta's I suspect otherwise. Especially knowing SE (FFXI) and the whole Asian MMO industry about their grindy gameplay.

To make it more confusing. There are places where you can not go at the moment. You get a message like "You can not go any further" or alike :D

All in all, it is just speculation about content coming in release.
