RMT bad on Besaid alreadyFollow

I didn't see anything about this on the 1st 3 pages of posts and I wanted to complain.

RMT is very annoying on Besaid server. I imagine its not just Besaid, but almost every time I log in (especially to the starting area outside of main city) there are constant, non stop (and I mean non stop) shouts of someone selling ghil with all the info (price, website etc).

Square wants to stop RMT (I read somewhere awhile ago that's why they're waiting on the AH supposedly), so shouldn't they be doing something about this now? I know its just beta, but it is still letting these sites set up and establish themselves with free advertising and whatnot.

And yes, I know you can just blacklist them, but still its annoying knowing they are already pomoting it heavliy. I don't remember gil sellers advertising their gil selling on XI through the shout mode.

they're on Kashuan too, and about 10+ of them (major starter camp, major city, second camp)

I think they're getting canned pretty quick, names keep changing, but yeah. However, they used to CONSTANTLY shout in Jeuno until they got nailed. This is nothing new.

I wonder if anyone is dumb enough to buy gil from them in beta. I have never liked outside gold/gil selling personally. Its like using cheats to make the game easier. SE should make it so you cant shout until a certain point (lv15 or so) so they wont just make a new char and start again they would have to endure grinding every time they get banned. Maybe it would discourage some of them at the very least >.>

Adding rules doesn't affect the people who don't obey the rules.

RMT use bots and exploits to do that sort of thing for them, adding rules that would only affect legit players isn't the answer.

With regards to the spam issue if SE does not allow trial accounts we will see little spam that cannot be controlled easily. RMT will not pay £30 for an account to spam public channels with that will be banned within an hour of uttering its first line of spam. The only spam you will see will come from compromised accounts, that will hopefully be shut down quickly, if SE allows trial accounts from day one then the spam will be intolerable (Whilst the game has no easy way to report/black list the spammer)

Trial accounts were not available in FFXI for a very long time, and we never had a RMT spam problem until the day they allowed trial accounts to be created.

Prices differ per country. For example I got my game for 30 euro. In Asia, the prices are really low for software. Besides RMT is big business. They really do not care to buy the game over and over again. Sure you hit them a bit by banning, but they will keep coming back and in the end make profit.

Also I doubt SE have the resources to ban every RMT advertiser within the hour.

Saw a bit of this on Bohdum this morning too. I have a feeling my blacklist will be overflowing if this keeps up at release. I wish people just wouldn't buy it.. no demand would mean to RMT.

By the way, is there an easy way to add a name to your blacklist? On Lindblum they've started using names like Ldfhfgwalfkj Qhfgugringv, and typing those in manually is a massive pain in the ***. I ended up just filtering the shout channel entirely.

I haven't found a way yet. Fastest way to blacklist is to type /blist but /blist "name" doesn't seem to add them, it just opens the blacklist.

I saw shouts for 100k for 4 USD on Selbina earlier. I have no idea why anyone would want to buy gil for the beta in the first place. I can't wait to see all the ****** off threads people who buy gil start to make when they wipe the characters.

The sad thing is if noone was buying it they wouldn't still be trying and in more numbers I'm pretty sure. I vote we just kill the whole lot and then go for some beers.

They could be using this time to test their bots

But yes... if you bought gil in beta... LOL

If you buy gil at any other time? Smiley: oyvey

Lol. I saw an RMT shout that says 50k for $18.95 XD Lmfao, first of all... its just a beta, why are you selling gils already? D< And c'mmon... 50k for $18.95? That's like paying a month fee for FFXI and only getting that much O_o.

The RMT is really sad and the guy advertising on my server had it for like $3 for 10K. Gil in FF is so lopsided (1 million gil for food anyone?) that 10k wouldn't go very far.

To bad they cant just set up a GM to roam about the cities an starting zones to slap rmt spammers with the ban stick once they start shouting. They do it so often you can't see anything on screen until you blist them /sigh

I played Aion for a few months and one thing I really liked about it was being able to right click on someones name and block them. It was pretty simple. Unfortunatly, my blist was full within a few days so I had to remove some to add new ones.
