Here's what I got on where to party and with how many ppl you should bring with you around the 'The Black Shroud' zone. I've only partied till rank 15 Marauder so I'm not so sure where to go after that :(. But anyways, here goes~

(Disciple rank - Location - Mob - Summary)

Rank 9 ~ 12 - North of Camp Emerald Moss - Wolves - A four-man party with a Conjurer should be able to kill these wolves. I was getting around 100~400 Axe exp from these guys.

Rank 12 ~ 15 - North of Camp Emerald Moss - Wolves - You can decide to just bring a Conjurer (or vise versa) with you and kill these guys. They should give good enough exp. Or you can....

Rank 12 ~ 17 (I'm guessing even a bit higher) - The Mun-Tuy Cellars (North east from Camp Emerald Moss) - Opo-opo - Have a five/six-man party, with a Conjurer of course, and go inside The Mun-Tuy Cellars and kill Opo-opos. Getting there is pretty easy. Once you reach a big room after the long creepy hallway, go north and you should eventually find the Opo-opos. Don't worry Puk's do not agro, just be careful from hitting them with AoE attacks/spells

Also note that because you get Disciple exp from hitting the monster, you get less Disciple exp if you kill the monster too fast. So remember not to get too many people to bring with you and at the same time, bring enough to take down the monsters.

If you know where to party after Rank17 or know a better place to party than what I mentioned, please share it with everyone, after all, FFXIV is a new game that does not have a lot of info about it. So please share you're info :)

Thank you sir for your excellent contribution!

Curious, how much exp/sp per hour would you say you get with these spots? Approx of course.

Good info. Rate Up.

Side note: I can't wait to meet up at certain leveling spots; like how Crawler's Nest was in XI.
There's something really cool about being there for the first time, someone showing you where it is and then finally going there yourself.

The little things.

For the wolves, I'd say... around 10k (or maybe more? O_o) Disciple exp an hour? There's not that much wolves around so you gotta keep running and running to look for them, prolly enough for only one party.

For the Opo-opos, they give really good exp but we weren't getting a lot cuz we only have 4 members with one of us being 15. We were killing them slowly so I guess prolly around the same amount as the wolves.

Disciple exp

Can you clarify exactly what is this?
I don't remember coming across this term, unless I was skimming over something ingame.

Just a general way of saying whatever job (MAR, CON, etc.) you chose. I didn't want to name each one.

Also because there's Physical exp and job exp, I had to find a term in FFXIV that fits well for this 'job exp' and decided to use Disciple. :)

Ah I see, most people seem to call it 'Class exp' or 'Job exp'.
Or the most easy/clear one, Skill points.

Wow that's great. I get 7706 skill ups and 24810 exp an hour soloing as a rank 13 Thaum, so it sounds like partying is better.

Just to clarify though, you are a DoW class right? I'm pretty sure DoM gets less skill ups in a party. Or would you say that's not in the case in these parties you experienced?

Thanks!

This isn't Gridania but a similar party "spot" was found in Ul'dah in the Nawawa Mines (come out of Ul'dah and go north from there)

Ul'dah
-----------------------------------
Rank 10-14 Killing Cobyln's in the mines, there is even a Aether Node inside the place so if you die your still right by camp.

The team was 2 GLA - 1 THM - 1 CON - 1 PUG. At Rank 10 GLA / PL 13 got about on average 200+ EXP per kill and clearing the entire room of Cobyln's took like 10 minutes are so.

I believe all the cave/mine areas in each zone is more or less the "main party" zones from Rank 1-20. Then you can start venturing deeper outside near other nodes.

Hmm... I haven't tried partying there as a DoM but I will try to do that some time this week.

My problem with parties so far is that they're all noob parties. You join, and you've got a rank 14 together with two rank 6's. You point it out and they're all like "duhh, wut?" I know it will get better as people figure out the game and online guides are written, but at this stage, I can't abide the waiting around and confusion of a party when I could so easily solo my levels.

Well, I usually start the party with a few friends I met ig and ask other people around if they wanna come with us. If they're interested, I check their lvl and see if its around the lvl requirement to be able to deal with the mobs. You can't expect to get invited to a party full of experts all the time.

The hard part is trying to figure out what level someone is before you invite them. They need to work on this... I miss being able to examine people.

You can examine other players. I dunno how for keyboard but I'm guessing the '-' botton. For gamepad, target a player and press triangle, it'll give you choices such as 'Invite to Party', 'Browse' (if they have items for sale), 'Trade', and 'Check'. Choose 'Check' and it'll show you their current gears and rank lvl.

Hmm I think there's a "check" option in the menu screen that lets you examine people and their equipments. It's still clunky to use, though.

Anyway, +1 OP! I will definitely keep those areas in mind when I start in Gridania for the retail. :D
