Greetings everyone. I play on a 1920x1080 resolution, have an i7 920 overclocked and 2 GTX 285's running in SLI. The game ran decently with most of the settings on High, 60 FPS in some spots and 40ish in busier areas. Anyway, I toyed around with the settings some more this afternoon, turning off the Depth of Field. I didn't notice a huge impact on graphics and the game now runs a smooth 60 FPS, even in spots where it previously didn't.

Anyway, using EVGA's precision tool, I see that GPU1's usage is 97%, while GPU2 is only 13%. I feel like I should be able to turn on more settings, but this second card isn't really doing much of anything. I tried forcing Alternate Frame Rendering in nvidia control panel, but that caused the game to lag quite badly, even though the usage on both GPUs was the same.

I know FFXIV isn't perfectly optimized to say the least, but are there any more settings I can play around with to get the most bang for my buck?

It's the software, not your config. They have to code a specific way to let SLI do it's awesomeness.

I see, I figured as much. I was just hoping there might be some work around. Oh well, thanks for the info though =)

There's a thread on the EVGA forums specific to EVGA cards and FFXIV, I'd direct link you to it but I'm feeling lazy. Any way it had some good easy fixes for Beta. However hopefully in a few days with retail it won't be needed anymore.

I don't actually have an EVGA card, they're both Zotac. I just use EVGA's tool for setting fan speed and monitoring temps and such. I'll check it out though during this two hour downtime we have. Thanks!

Dumb question...when I try to log in right now it hangs at a black screen with "Now Loading...". Is that because of the maintenance going on or did I break something with the SLI Profile I tried to do just now o.O?

Go to your nvidia control panel and see if one card is dedicated to physics. If it is, that would be logical if one was performing lower. It is probably set on auto. I don't know much more than that.

I have Physx set to CPU since FFXIV doesn't make use of it I believe. I just followed the SLI Fix in this thread...

I'll see how it runs when the server comes back up.
