Exploring Final Fantasy 14

All map locations are X by Y (X being the numbers at the top and Y being the numbers at the side).

This is just -a few- of the places I have explored. Over the next few days I will probably add a large amount more as well as add pictures of each area.

Regardless, I'm trying to include positions for every closed-off zone (and there seem to be a lot). Hopefully they will open up with the retail version of the game.

If anyone knows how to get to ala-mhigo -please- tell me. thanks <3

edit: if you are having trouble getting past the 1-shot mobs post and i will give you advice on avoiding agro.

Gridania

North Forest

SUB ZONE - The Mun-Tuy Cellars
Location: 23-18 / 24-18 and 20-13 (harder to get to entrance)
Description: A BEAUTIFUL underground man-enhanced cave with stone brick walls and squirrels!
There are doors that require you to choose the open action, with food stores inside. Beware though, high level wisps and bats will eat you within (i got 2 shotted at phys 25 and rank 20)
Many paths on the map are blocked off by fallen stones.
Much of the area is populated by Opo-opos.
By travelling through the Mun-Tuy Cellars you can reach young galagos and Yarzon feeders at the 20-13 entrance (you can also reach them by land but its difficult due to wolf agro). These con blue at rank 20 and can be solod at level 15 or prior.
The Mun-Tuy Cellars is worth a visit just for the beautiful design.

Hyerstmill
Location: 24-13
Description: A lovely little hamlet built with the consent of the elementals. A haven for Gridanian warriers that spends most of its time tending to archers wounded by the Ixal. Worth a stop, but not an essential place to visit yet .

The Creeping Ivy
Location: 21-10
Description: The marlboro seen in one of the trailers. There are a few of these in different places, but this mob looks -amazing-. Worth taking a trip out here to see it. Might have to pass some 1-shot lvl 50 mobs however.

Galmorre Ruins + Crowd Creep (sp)
Location: 21-8,7,6,5,4
Description: Galmorre Ruins is a stone platform, which probably used to have a fort on it. Its guarded by waterdogs, and there is one or 2 ixali (lizardman type beastmen) around it. If you go past the Galmorre ruins you get to crowd creep or something like that (look on the map). This is just a nice path with a waterfall at the end and a bunch of quiqern mercenaries.
There is nothing special about this place, and it took me 4 hours +, and over 100 deaths to reach it. So if you are brave, its worth seeing. The waterfall is really pretty too :p.

Gabearden (Spelling definitely wrong)
Location: 25-7
Description: Npc named rimomo says "If it were up to me, I would let you pass. But my orders are to let none through. Please go, before there's trouble".
There is a door in a rock wall that seems to lead to a cave. Can't get through it sadly.

Central Forest

The Forest Shrine
Location: 22-27 / 23-27 Description: First seen in the level 10 mission, this is a small shrine in the forest where offerings and notes can be left for the super cute magical moogles.

Coerthas

The Fesse
Location: 53-23,24
Description: Blocked off by an npc named Wowotazi: "I've been given specific orders to prohibit all access to the Fesse.... using all necessary force. If you value your life, unbeliever, I suggest you withdraw at once.

Owls Nest
Location: 63-35 and the rest of the island-area on the map
How to get there: Cave at 59-31. Will have to get past foopad fomor type things that can prob 1-shot you
Description:
An NPC here tells you that the archbishop closed off Ishgard and will only let holy knights pass through the gate of judgement. This just made the game sound 10 times more awesome!!!! Religious fanatics are always fun.
Another NPC says to beware of ashpool and banepool far to the northwest and says that theres a taint of a dragon running deep there.
This village has some grass huts, some houses, and a windmill and stuff. its pretty awesome. definitely worth the trip.
The windmills sound effects when you go near are amazing.
I love this village, i would live here if i could lol.
There is an empty cave in the southeast that has a sewer grate in it

Airshop Dock
Location: 45-33
Description: A dock for an airship im guessing.

Millers Glade
Location 49-34,35 50-34,35
Description: An open area with green - red mobs at rank 20. There are 4 windmills here. They all have doors but you can't enter them yet. Kinda pretty to visit and the lake here is nice. I noticed they made these small strips of land at the edges. I think it might be for fishers because when i fished on ffxi all the japanese people would find the edges and go there to fish (I would too lol). Maybe SE caught on. Nice area though, worth a look since its easy to get to.

Getting to the northeastern part of the map (with camp crooked fork)
Directions: take the tunnel at 44-18

Did you make it to Falcon's Nest.. I think that's it.. same zone but it's south of Twin Pools. You have to cross 2 rivers and after the second one is an area with a lot of Gnats (can see from far and will attack) then in the south of that you come to a cave but it is filled with bats and toads. I attempted once to get through but about 75% of the way through the cave I was face down.

Just curious if you've made it down there because I'd like to see what is on the other side.. sadly I've deleted my character with that teleport up there and haven't had the heart to go back.

nope, not even close to that part of the zone yet, im doing northeast now. lol. Ill eventually try to get there though :]

The Northeastern Castle (pemu viail)?
Location: 43-11
Description: An empty fort surrounded by high level mobs. There are a few of these forts surrounding Ishgard.

Gwyr-Den (prob misspelt)
Location: 43-7
Description: This open area has no mobs and is home to a series of piles of stones in a circle. There is also a nice view of Ishgard from here. Not really worth taking a visit since it may take an hour to get past the 1-shot mobs.

Hengr's Crucible
Location: 42-1
Description: A cave blocked off by an NPC. Ladislas: "You have no business in Hengr's Crucible. Begone!"
