This is driving me nuts not knowing i wish release was out so i had an instruction manual to help point out if this is a bug or not.

I have a hatchet as im botanist, but i tried to unequip it to reapir it but it wouldnt unequip ?
Same goes for my trunks they are almost worn out and i cant unequip them to repair them ?

Do you guys know why or is this a bug ?

The hatchet does not have untradeable sign and trunks I think do. Either way these two items i cant remove except by one way. If i swap my hatchet for a wooden saw it swaps over and i was able to repair the hatchet that way. The trunks though i dont want to swap for a new pair, i want to repair them.

thanks for your help.

I checked elsewhere for simillar topic but couldnt find anything, and ive asked in game too with no replies :(

You can never un-equip weapons in this game, you have to swap them out.
So change the hatchet to whatever you want to repair it with instead of trying to un-equip.
Also, make sure you're in passive mode

Thank you for your response so quickly.

The weapon i can understand its the trunks im unsure of. Why would they want you to swap old trunks with new trunks so you can thwen repair the old trunks ? I dont want to carry round two lots of underwear i want one pair i can repair as it gets old.

I dont know if they really thought the whole underwear thing through in this game. You prettymuch cant un-equip them because they dont want you running around nude. But if you cant take them off to repair yourself they shouldn't be able to degrade. I'm just assuming after the game is out for a while the underwear will be cheap and plentiful so noone will mind changing it daily. SE could be trying to increase the hygiene of their players somewhat? Smiley: laugh

A subtle reminder for those extra long gaming sessions to check your IRL drawers & hygiene...

Why does underwear even need to be an equippable item?

Adjust the resolution of menus.
The main screen resolution for "FINAL FANTASY XI" is dependent on the "Overlay Graphics Resolution" setting.
If the Overlay Graphics Resolution is set higher than the Menu Resolution, menus will be automatically resized.

I thought of it first:

It does seem a bit daft to be unable to remove an item of equipment without having a replacement.

OK, so they don't want any accidental nudity, but having some permanent underwear on the character model would make things a lot easier. Unless you get free sets of spare underwear in retail...

Obviously so crafters can make sexier underwear as the game progresses! I can bet there will be some hilarious undergarments given out for events at some point as well.

Until they let people repair equipped items, right now all you can do is either let the NPC repair your undergarments, or buy a second pair.

Annoying to be sure, but now that NPCs can repair to 75% not as bad as it was when you couldn't get rid of the yellow icon.

Lamnethx, yeah, once I found the repair NPC I got everything fixed, but it does seem to be an odd mechanic.

I'll have to go underwear shopping just to be sure!

Somewhat related but kinda different question.

I've maxed out my jewelry points, but I found these brass wristlets that are way better than the copper ones I'm wearing, when trying to replace them I get "you can't equip any more jewelry". Since I can't unequip the other stuff, I'm stumped.

Any ideas how I can fix this and wear the brass wristlets?

This. Unfortunately this is just another example of an unresponsive laggy UI with awful nested menus that should have died in 1998.

You can definitely unequip gear, but you have to go through the abilities and equipment menu (not the inventory menu). In addition you must click on the gear slot, then on the corresponding piece of gear in the popup inventory list. There should be an option to unequip it.

One of, if not THE worst menu system I have ever seen in any game.
