so.. PS3 release is in about 150 days, 150 days is a little more than 21 weeks. 21 weeks is 168 Surplus blocks (each week is 8 blocks of 100% exp) of EXP until us ps3 players are allowed to join. Do you think SE will allow some leeway with the surplus system for the PS3 players or is it going to be impossible for us to catch up? Are we doomed to hit lvl 50 six months after everyone, when they probably already have raised the lvl cap to 75? How do they figure this system is going to work in the long run? Is it just active for the people who start at launch or will everyone who starts later (2 years from now?) permanently be left behind no matter how hard they work to catch up? Discuss!

Disclaimer: This thread is in now way a negative remark on the quality of Square Enix or any of their products. Further it does not condone general flaming and hateful remarks of/against any forum posters and/or topics/products/games/cats discussed.

Yes things will be adjusted to the FATIGUE system if not completely abolished. Pending on how much crap SE can pump out for players to do so they dont cancel their subs.

was that a hint that you want me to change the title to FATIGUE instead of surplus? :)

Only time will tell, the more i read on the surplus, bonus, fatigue, or whatever they're calling it nowadays, the more it doesnt bother me. Ive kinda realized that its beneficial to lvl several different classes, and as long as im not playing 8-12 hours everyday i doubt ill ever see it other than on my main, at which point ill switch to something else.

So no matter what happens its going to take a while for PS3 players to catch up, 6 months of play is a long time. You may miss out on the excitement of the newness of the game, but you will also have all the info PC players have collected to help you along.

One link you need for this thread,
http://www.linkshells.com/entry.php?7-Understanding-the-Fatigue-System

Just about the **** best thing next to slice bread.

Theres no reason to be annoyed with fatigue if you start when the ps3 version comes out, cause there will be many others like you meaning u still have a community just a more developed one in the background for u.

yeup. that video explains what I've been thinking all along. My gripe with the system isn't the system itself, since I think it will work fairly well IF everyone started at the same time. What I fear (and what I tried to bring up in my post) is that there will be a massive segregation between the PC and the PS3 players because of the 6 month gap and 168 fatigue limits.

When I started playing FFXI I was about 7 months behind my fellow linkshell members, but with some hard work (and long gaming sessions late at night) I finally caught up to them and was able to party with them instead of random PUGs. In the current system I will have no way to catch up to my friends who starts 6 months earlier than me, unless they seriously slow down their lvling pace just to allow me to catch up(which I doubt they will just for me). So basically I'm forced to find new friends and forget about my old ones until I reach lvl cap :(
