seriously I wanna know what the heck you could do with boats and cannons - I mean if we can make them but they are useless that wouldn't be much fun....

Would be cool if the boats were like LS bases and you could have a form of player housing even if it just stayed docked. I want some player housing!

Unlikely. There was a small scene that showed an (in-development) battle between two ships. As player-constructed boats, canons... and cakes were shown about 30 seconds earlier... well, I guess it's a good guess that somewhere, far, far down the road naval battles between companies using cannons to fire wedding cakes are an absolute possibility.

Trailer shown at FFXIV launch party:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1VGCZbB_VpQ

Elezen: "You would sell you own mother if the coin was good."

Miqo'te: "My father too."

Male miqo'te confirmed.

And also, that's obviously a great sword on the heroes back.

One of the guys in my linkshell made a lalafell with the mustache, and then did a /laugh and the lala had a really deep voice.
It sounded really weird... not something i would expect from a little lalafell.

Also, the lalafell in the opening CS for gridania sounds funny. He sounds like a 98 year old english professor from Oxford University. (if I had to imagine what that would sound like)

FTFY
The Molboro scene was beautiful (and full of things we'll never be able to do obviously), while the sky battle had too much pewpew for my tastes.
Anyway it was good, I really liked the general idea behind it.

Hot guy? No thanks. Also I just noticed after watching it a couple times, the lalafell enchanted the arrow he fired at the molboro ... would be neat to see teamwork enchantments like that in game (for that matter they might already exist, I've only partied once lol)

Probably reposting again, but so happy to see this!! (taken from the core homepage):
Quote:

- There will be hardware mouse support!
- We believe that the item selection interface should be very responsive, and by release we will have introduced a MUCH improved version. After release we will continue improving this.
- The FFXIV development team acknowledged that there's issues with the mouse and user interface and apologized about it. Hardware Mouse + UI improvements will be a major focus for them.

500 pages of QQQQQQQQQ has now become moot. I'm actually very impressed with SE atm. Yeah they're running really rough this close to release and not saying much... but every time there's a patch I can see where they are paying close attention to the problems and fixing them. I hope this level of effort continues on their end past release to make this the game what it could be.

Also, The NM confirmation makes me happy. I know they can be seen as problematic with RMT and whatnot but they really make areas feel alive and a bit more special.

Which is over at Core.com (3 translators, they claim).

If FFXI is anything to go bby (and it might not be) there are male Miquote/Mithra (SP), just they're not playable.. only NPCs.
