Okay, I have now watched the Official Opening Movie
several times now and have spent a little while trying to analyse different parts of it to get some meaning from it and just noting things that I enjoyed and general thoughts. Part #1 -
At an Adventurers Guild and the main character is selecting Leves to try.
0:54 I like that almost-purr sound the miquo'te makes when she gets the drink. I wonder if it is milk
1:03 The accents of the Eleizen and Miqo'te make me laugh. I wonder who the voice actors are.
1:32 "Choose as you will _____. Our fate is in your hands " I think his name sounds like "Medvalion"? Any thoughts? Part #2 -
1:54 When you see the main guy as the archer, I don't think it is nessesarily him. Someone mentioned Echo
The Echo is a mysterious power which causes the souls of those touched by it to resonate with others. Of that power is born the ability to relive the other person's past experiences -- to see and feel them as though they were one's own.
Nothing is known of its origin or purpose. The task of learning its secrets falls to adventurers.
His party consists of an Elezen and a Miquote, So I think he is seeing a vision of a band of 4 consisting of a Lala conjurer, A Roegadyn Maraduer, An Elezen Gladiator and a Hyur Archer, of whom he is 'resonating' with
2:03 Is the lala running on water?
2:07 the 'bubble spell' is the same from the LL opening Cutscene. Looking at all the Abilities 1-50
I can't see anything that resembles a 'barrier' spell parart from Shell/Protect. And I love the way she looks back at him.
2:45 the gladitor is using a healing spell - an example of cross class skills
2:50 the shared 'nod' I am assuming is the start of a Battle Regiment where 1 - the Gladiator does an attack that pins down or imobilises the emeny, the marauder uses a skill to knock over the enemy, the Conjurer uses a fire spell which combines with the Archer's attack (and as we all know Fire beats Plant
). Part #3 -
The aircrafts now sweep in, chasing a dragon. They may possibly be related to the Ishgards?
[ Ishgard ]
The Knights of Ishgard are fighting a holy war with an ancient race of dragons, and are currently refusing contact with those they call ‘unbelievers.’
This brings up the question to me wether or not these dragons are evil or just misunderstood.
Though I must admit the dragon that flies over head looks a little ... odd? They do't seem to have limbs, only wings. Dragon1 Dragon2 Dragon3
3:49 the second aircraft creashes into the pond where the Archer was and it appears he gets scooped up at this point, leaving his companions behind
4:20 -4:40 there seem to be 3 kinds of aircraft in these scenes. The smallest ones are the 'chimmney' like ones which seem to be fighter craft. There are larger brown ships with domed tops and columns on the side. For some reason I get the vibe that they are like silos and storage units? There is a strange black craft that looks slightly serpentine tapering down to a blade like appendage and may be defensive units. The largest is a big red ship which looks slightly dragon like. at 4:39 it almost looks like the side of a dragon's head with a mouth full of metal teeth, though at 4:48 when you can see most of the craft, it actually looks like a big red whale. They appear to all be on the same side fighting the small dragons
(P.S. once again a cardinal rule of Hollywood strikes in that there are a billion and one bullets/charges being fired and the main character isn't touched)
4:52 a large bolt of lightning streaks down from the sky and blasts one of the Silo-like craft. Then with quite a bit of awesomeness, Big Mummy Dragon peeks her head down from the clouds and sends another blue blast into the heart of the ship
5:06 Big Mummy winds her way down from the clouds and begins to encircle this big red ship. The shape of her makes me wonder if there is a connection between the Dragons
and the Leviathan
-creature from Limsa
5:13 VERY exciting scene to me
. You see the 3 other companions PLUS CHOCOBO standing there as fire streams down from the sky. It is now evident that these aren't comets, but either bits of burning aircraft or flaming dragon bodies raining down. I think that this is the same scene that our characters witness in the Opening Cutscenes. So going back to the 'Echo' topic, it seems that for our storyline point of view, our characters all have a hint of Echo in them and they are all resonating in some way with this dragon battle.
5:30 Big Mummy starts to draw the big ship down from the skies to crash into a lake
. This correlates to the place in Mor Dhona where the shipwreck with the dragon wrapped around it is.
5:53 a huge burst of green energy rises up from the ground
and seems to kill the dragon and the wreckage. My thoughts are that this is aetherite, as it is described that the Gates and Nodes and what not are aetherite geyering up from veins underground. I think the crash landed ontop of one of these veins and the force kills the dragon and all other life on the ship
6:00 the expanding energy strikes the ship and the main character is flung off the ship (with a funny yell) and he begins to freefall down towards the open aetherite vent.
6:11 springing from the aether are some mysterious life forms
, the first one some kind of beast-demon resembling Ifrit, the second a kind of golem-like creature. They then jettison off
and you see more of these light-encased creature flying off somewhere. My thoughts are that the force of aethrite combined with dragon magic and whatever energies where in the ship and possibly those on the ship has combined to make monsters. These may possibly be the Bosses and Nefarious Monsters in the game. Part #4
6:28 Main Character returns from the vision to the amusement of his companions Oh and CREEPY SMIILE!!!!
6:56 He choses the Leve he got the vision on
. I've zoomed in and tried to decipher the name of the Leve. I cam make out that it starts with R and I think it ends in lue, which makes me thing the word is "Revalue" though that doesn't make much sense with the picture displayed.
7:08 "Let us give the Bards something to sing about!" The main character is now hefting a big sword. Not sure if this means that there is another class out there that uses a 2-handed broadsword. In part 2 the Galdiator's sword is also linda large. The Eleizen has an axe, making him a Marauder. Unsure what the Miquo'te is. Perhaps a Pugilist?
