packs more of a punch than any other class?

I mean in terms of feeling, weight, heft, etc.

When I messed around and created a Miqote Marauder (because they look awesome, bandanna etc.) I was surprised I actually liked it because when she swung the axe, it looked heavy and had a heavy thud when it hit.

It makes my PUG look like she's slapping instead of punching something.

I might even change classes in release because if it.

?

I know haha. But my point was, I think the physics or live-action modeling, make it even more pronounced than in say FFXI.

In FFXI two handers were, eh. But here in FFXIV it's almost unbalanced how 'hard' they hit, and this is just at the start. It makes them look awesome and I hate two-handed classes.

I'm sure that things will 'balance' out. I know PUGs are supposed to be light on their feet, but maybe I just need a surround sound system or something. lol.

With PUG it's almost like perma-Hundred Fists, though! Well, maybe only Fifty Fists, but you can get quite the smackdown going just by keeping Heavy Strike queued up. ^^ (Certainly lots of variety around, so hopefully there's something for everyone between all the DoW and DoM classes.)

I think in party fights tho, pug is supposed to attack behind the mob more, so more of its "oomph" will come from that because i thought in reading of some of the abilities/weaponskills more of them get bonuses from behind.

...its kinda difficult to solo mobs from behind lol

Thats true but the lack of kicking and varied animation for his/her attacks kinda blows pretty bad. I can't believe they didn't add kicking... after 8 years of asking/begging for it they still didn't add it.

/sadness

The hundred fists thing is true. I hope then that different weapons affect stamina so that you could buy some really 'fast' claws. Although I don't know how I'd feel spamming the attack all of the time.

Hrmm.

He is right though. I have been gone a long time, haha, but davess is also right, I'm just talking about aesthetics.

Marauder does pack a punch, I played it for 15 ranks in beta and enjoyed it but recently made a lalafell character for the first time and made it a Thaumaturge and gotta admit I'm loving the debuff dark magic role that I think its changed my mind for starting class.

my first char was MAR my second was PUG, I felt my MAR missed loads when it mattered and overall the PUG handled more like my THF did in XI... lots of little consistant dammage with lots of spike. Having said that the MAR seemed to be more consistant with WS ACC than the PUG, which seemed backwards (and frustrating) to me.

Both times I was using a Highlander (just a different starting city and itnital build), the MAR had more STR the PUG more DEX, both were taken over 15 and over 10 in class.

I have PUG and MAR leveled on my Miq'ote. PUG is more accurate WS-wise but she looks like she's swingin' for the fences every time on MAR. So far, combining the abilities of those two jobs is my favorite DoW. PUG with Brandish is silly and the same can be said about MAR with Second Wind.

SW as a subability is less effective at higher levels but yeah its good when starting out :)

Does it cap at some point? At the low levels I was running around at (Botanist is my highest ranked job) Second Wind combined with Bloodbath was awesome.

Yes, when my Marauder isn't busy missing the broad side of a mountain I can almost always breeze through mobs. I wanna say lower accuracy is part of the trade off for hitting so hard, but it's hard to tell at the moment since we don't have access to better axes yet.

I do love the liveliness of the animations (at least for Miqo'te) and how the axe "feels" heavy. The characters really lean into it when they swing.

Depends on the voice you pick. I picked voice 2 for midland hyur male and he made weird grunts sometimes. voice 3 is fine, though

Marauder is a fun class and im enjoying it so far, but if you get into a fight with something your level or high you begin to become a whiffler. Meanwhile I see the Pug over there "slapping" with hefty weight thats actually hitting. ;)

Miss, Miss, Evade, Miss, Hit for 3 damage because youre defensive stance, Miss, Evade, Evade, Miss.

Its miserable the higher up you get and getting a new weapon is difficult.

For some reason, my Marauder seems to suffer from a lot more glitchy attack animations than any of my other classes. 50% of the time my character won't make any motion, but the attack will register. Only happens on Marauder though...

I've kind of noticed that too.

However I think the abilities/stamina bar contributes a lot to it. Meaning when I use an ability if I press heavy strike before the ability's animation is over it will immediately cut to the heavy strike animation.

With MAR the same thing happens with normal swings, but only sometimes.
