Preorder/Special items for FFXIV players question.Follow

So far I have seen mention of Hermes' Shoes, Onion Helm, Asuran Armguards, and some sort of Goggles....

Just to make sure I understand correctly....

Hermes' Shoes can be obtained by having an active FFXI account on your SE ID at the time you link FFXIV, and they increase you speed slightly. These will be on your FFXIV correct? Also, if I have an active FFXI account linked to my SE ID, and in the open beta for FFXIV which is linked to my SE ID, AND will be getting the FFXIV CE... these should show up after I link the retail FFXIV CE, right?

Regarding the other three items... can anyone clarify what version they come with (SE or CE), and what they actually do?

I just read that the Onion Helm cuts fatigue time in half (1m30s) if you are wearing it, but can anyone elaborate on the other two items... or all of them if you like.

Thanks.

Goggles increase your skill points but no one knows by how much atm.

Asuran Armguards increase the effectiveness of your "main" hand tool. I read around that it adds +6 atk/mag-atk/gathering/craftmanship if your main hand is a DoW/DoW/DoL/DoH weapon, respectively.

I could be wrong so someone correct me if I am. ;)

I'd love to know about the boots, that's the first I've heard of it.

Is there a source for that at all?

The datamining also says there is an Onion Robe and Onion Slops and others if I remember correctly. How are those obtained?

It was posted on the official FFXI update site, along with 2 other prettymuch useless perks of having an xi and xiv subscription.

The CE preorders should get every item, in my opinion.

That's usually the way it happens with other company's CEs or LEs.

Also, I can only find info for the armbands on the Japanese FFXIV site regarding how to get them... I actually bought FFXIII on the 360 and PS3 and although I remember the code that came with the game... I don't remember it being called a campaign code...

I'll have to look at my code cards again...

edit: FFXIV wasn't FFXIII. Or vice-versa.

Since we're on this subject I thought I'd ask... Is there any word if the pre-order items and arm guards are available on all characters created on that account or just the first character? Also will they be available permanently? Say you decide 3 months later to make a second character, will you still get the items still upon creation?

Only way that could justify those goggles is if after a certain level they become obsolete, otherwise they are OP.

The devs have already said very, very clearly that the goggles are designed to have a limited function. Whether it's a rank cap or a set duration or durability with no option to repair, they're intended to give SE players a bit of a boost to catch up to the CE players and nothing more. They aren't going to be a perpetual item that you use to boost your character to the cap and then again when every new expansion comes out.

All characters, provided you register the bonus item codes before you create the character(s).

I've had a couple questions about these items myself.

I played FF11 for several years, and POL has been bound to my SE id for a while, but I retired and canceled my content IDs last year. Can I reactivate my IDs temporarily, create my character on 14, get the hermes boots, and then deactivate my FF11 IDs?

Also, the bonus gloves from purchasing FF13... I have the 360 version and there is a card in there with a code. Will this code get me the gloves, or are the gloves ONLY available for PS3 users?

Asuran Armbands are only for FFXIII PS3 owners, and it had to be one of the first 'editions' of the game, meaning ya had to actually get it when it first came out

i alrready got my code for registering my copy of it

if you got a code with it, ya might try registering it, they may have changed it, but thats what i read and found out.

Dunno if that was asked before :X

And 2nd question. Anyone know the stats on the Armbands?

think the armbands are supposed to give enhancment to whatever tool/weapon that you have in your main hand like better control over synths or increased damage, something of that sort.

not too sure about the codes after you get them, i think after Wed. when we set up account, might have to set up your square account with same one ya signed up your XIII code with, maybe not, we'll have to find out then.

I don't have anything that specifically says 'Campaign Code' in the FF13 papers I have. Is it just the product registration code? Gaahh... if I lost it...

They are one and the same thing. Read the card, it should say you'll receive a special item by registering your copy. http://member.square-enix.com/na/features/ff13/serialcode/
