Knowing crafters can group together to create something big is really exciting! I don't know of any other MMOs that require characters to work together to make one thing. Depending on how complicated the process is, this sounds like a real fresh take on crafting.

Actually..

If you played Vanguard: Saga of Heroes....

The crafting is more or less similar and now FFXIV seems to have a similar non-combat game call parley (>...>

Quote:
Parley
Parley is a method other than battle in which players can obtain items. Players choose ‘topics’ and then play a game using painted tiles. If you defeat your NPC opponent, you earn the right to exchange the items you have for those you need. If you do especially well, you can obtain even greater rewards.

Damnit I have this weird idea of maybe getting a few grps of Alchemists to develop some super Bacteria !!!

We'll call it the U Bacteria. And release it "accidentally" in Ul'Dah.

Those infected with the U Bacteria will turn into mindless zombies, **** bent on killing everyone they see.

There will also be a super U Bacteria version, that will turn some infected into "Dictators" !!

A Tale in the Desert also had large scale crafting.

I think it'd be awesome if you can build stalls/vendors and set them up in town, outside town, wherever as part of a group crafting effort.

No love for the DoL's on this stuff? I remember in a fishing thread we joked about a team of fishers taking down a legendary monstrosity of a fish and mounting it on the walls of the "Fishing Company". Not sure about the other 2...mining for huge materia perhaps? = P

Doesn't sound as fun, but maybe there's something that could be done there...

Looks awesome, its just a shame no one ever wants to party or even talk to you on this game.

EDIT: In my experience anyway.. Hopefully it will be different in full game.
