No Bonecraft?

Seriously? What the ****.

I think that ****** me off more than anything. Unless I'm just plain retarded and missed it a million times. A good possibility.

I was a bit surprised about that myself, what with their being bone chips and antlers and femurs as drops from mobs and mining. What I've found instead that a lot of them got rolled into alchemy. In a way I guess it makes sense. There's just not a whole lot you can do with bones that makes sense. Jewelry, yes...which kind of explains why Goldsmiths are the ones who make things like bone rings now. But as far as full suits of armor and the like similar to what we saw in XI? That's not boneworking...that's like, leatherworking or clothcraft with bones stuck to the outside for show or...like...scales 'n stuff.

Yeah there was something about Bonecrafting I just really enjoyed in XI. :(

I'll pause here for the obvious "Haha you stroke Bones" joke or whatever here.

...

So anyways, I'm prob gonna do leather, but thats good to hear about Alchemy. I'm trying to DL the beta to pre-explore before the 22nd, but it ends up since I havent used my PC in about a year, I have to go through a ****-ton of updates just to get to the XIV install.

(~_~)

Alchemists, goldsmiths and woodworkers can all learn the traits for bone crafting. I'm kind of glad its not its own seperate class to be honest... there is already far to much synergy crafting required. Bad enough I'll need leather, woodworking goldsmithing and weaving to effectively be a blacksmith, without adding another craft I need to level.

As it is, my physical level is almost 30 and my highest single class is 16...

In other news, after 3+ hours of updating Vista, just to try and run the benchmark, and downloading the beta, found out an x1650 can't run the game.
Sah-weet. Guess my "Deliver it to me on the 22nd" thing from Amazon was a waste of 10 bucks. Hah.

That's harsh... =X

The benchmark was for the alpha though... between alpha and beta they increased the system reqs... What is your rig though? maybe a few minor upgrades can bump you up to atleast a workable system?

There's still a lot of boneworking in FFXIV, it's just a part of Goldsmithing. For ex, there are still bone rings/earrings, and bone parts are needed in a lot of weapons and armors (for ex, the **** of a spear).

Athlon 64 x2 Dual Core 3800+ 2GHz, and Radeon x1650 Vid Card. 2 G Ram. ...Thats all I really know. Oh, and my enter key just stopped working. But every time I try and run Bench or the Beta, it "Quits unexpectedly".

You could get by with just upgrading your video card I think. You could find something a little better than minimum requirements for maybe 50 bucks on newegg.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150393&cm_re=radeon-_-14-150-393-_-Product

just as an example.

The quitting unexpectedly can be a different problem entirely... My laptop is just under the minimum requirements, and i can run the game, it just stutters horribly. It sounds silly, but try opening the config menu and playing around there first. My girlfriend couldn't access the beta yesterday because the language had been set to japanese and she doesnt have japanese characters on her computer.

you can also turn down settings in there.

You can also try getting a video card from a store like best buy, if it doesnt fix the problem you can always return it.

But a new video card would atleast bring you above the minimum requirements, which can only be a good thing. =)
