-i downloaded the client from the beta test site
-i made a beta account for ffxiv in account management
-i updated the game
and now i push the ffxiv game desktop shortcut to start the game
-i use my username and password on squareenix account management
-i push play

and then it gives me a black windowed screen from which i hear the music but it remains black.... Anyone know why it does that?

Sorry for being so analytical but i want to be thorough. If anyone know something please help me!

I presume you had already linked your beta code to your square-enix account??

try updating your display drivers. I've previously experienced this too after one of the updates. if you want to test it further to see if it is the same case, try pressing your mouse button or keyboard enter key and see if you're able to get into the character selection screen - but without the UI.

yes i have it linked. And yes that's exactly what happens. When i press the mouse or enter etc it sometimes gets me to the character creation without UI. What did you do to fix it?

Does your PC meet the minimum requirements to play the game? Give us your PC details if you're not sure. If you are unsure of how to find that information using the Final Fantasy XIV config tool select system information and copy the text there.

My graphics card is PNY Geforce GTX 295,I score 5672 on the official squareenix benchmark for ffxiv so i don't think that that's the problem. Besides i have the same problem as hiyohiyo had. Hiyohiyo how did you solve it when it came up to you?

Go to your start menu and open the "Square Enix" folder then run the FFXIV beta config program.
You might need to lower some settings or change something in there to get it to work.
