I have a few questions about the game before I commit myself to it. I understand that most of the population can no play yet, however there are people who are playing who bought the limited ed. The questions I have are simple, yet not explained in he stickies.

1. I am a former 11 player, so you can know where I am coming from with this. Is getting the highest level dependent on my ability to attract random strangers, or can I do it duo/solo?

2. Is earning money in FFXIV just as hard as 11, or is it much easier now, and please tell me it isn't too easy. IE some kind of happy medium like say between the ease of earning money in wow and the ease of earning money in eve.

3. Eve online has a way to pay for the game using in game money. Now I am sure the answer is no, but hey grasping at straws here. Does 14 have something similar? (In eve, you can buy a 60 day code and sell it in game for isk. CCP Games allows people to do this.)

4. Do the new tarus really look as freaky as the tarus I saw in the videos?

Edit: Also, is there talking in this game?

Well the people that are playing now are still playing beta. The CE early players don't start until the 22nd I believe. To answer your first question, in beta, I have played all solo up to this point. I'm currently level 13 rank 10. During levequests, it's always a good thing to team up with people due to the fact that you get better rewards for completing the quest. No one can really say how integral levling will be late game but I'm sure it will be much quicker than going solo.

In terms of your second question, in beta, money seems a lot more easier to come across compared to xi. Just from doing quests and selling my drops I have probably gotten around 100k+. No one can really say if this is a lot or a little since there is no real economy set up yet. I'm assuming since I was able to get the amount of money I have so quickly and early in my levels that money will be easier to come by in 14. We probably won't be able to tell for a few months after release what is considered "a lot" of money.

To your third question, I don't think any of these options will be available but we will see.

Fourth question, the tarus are pretty scary, I think they look the same as the xi??

1. You're still slightly better off with a good LS, but Solo options have definitely increased.
2. Nobody can tell. It's beta, things will be adjusted for retail.
3. No.
4. They look great.

As said before there is noone playing release yet. All information available is from Beta and might be changed in the future and mostly relevant to 0-20 levels

1- As oposed to FFXI it appears the game (at these lower levels) is much more solo friendly, you do not depend so much of random parties.

2- It appears that it is much easier to get Gil in FFXIV but untill a stable economy is created (personally I don't think that Beta economy is representative of release) we have no certain idea of how much Gil we need to spend.

3- Square Enix appears to have the Crysta system by which you can use a credit card to get Crysta points and then use those points to pay for subscription.

4- No idea what you mean by freaky but they don't appear as mearlly cute like in FFXI.

5- No ingame chat to my best knowledge.

I should have been more clear lol. By talking, I meant do the NPCs have voices?

As for chat, I use ventrilo, always have, always will.

Now for a few more questions. When you send a tell to someone, does it open a new window? Or just the different colored text like in XI?

Did they have to make the new mithras **** move the way it does? Its hypnotizing. (I play taru, and being face to crotch... I will notice XD)

Some cut scennes do include voicec acting but not all I'm afraid.

/Tell is indeed on the same window and on different colour (purple I think), the problem here is that if you send a tell to someone offline or non existant the system doesn't let you know, there is no difference from a successful tell as much as I noticed.

As an old Manthra (changing to Roegadyn) I'll refrain from any coments on your last statement.

Nope, been there. They gave me these little blue pills that turn the world all melty. Its fun, until you wake up with **** on yourself and drool in your hair.

Maybe next time the thorazine will be chocolate coated for maximum pleasure.

By the way, Roegadyn? Talk about taking a semi **** name and turning it in to a total nerd fest name which almost everyone will mispronounce. Thanks SE.

I think that the voice acting was toned down for the beta just to try and keep the size of the client down as much as possible. I can't say for sure either way, but it wouldn't surprise me if the cutscenes all contained voice acting.

You might be a little confused. Roegadyns are the new Galka. Miqo'te are the new Mithra.

As for your question on how their butts move, please see sig.

Are you sure you're not mistaking the loony bin for Square Enix HQ :P

Everyone has answered your questions already but I'll vouch for the Lalafells, they look awesome.

I played FFXI for just the free period. I find XIV much more solo friendly at least at the early levels. Something they have done that shows their support of the solo/small band approach is having a player selectable difficulty level for guildleves. If you're playing solo you select difficulty 1 or 2. If you're in a group, then pick a higher difficulty level. The upside to the group is that the higher difficulty level is supposed to give you better stuff.

No clue, the initial quest rewarded you with more than enough gil (30k). But I think this may have been to give people gil to try things out with. The guildleves seemed to give more modest amounts (around 500 gil). We'll just have to see how the economy shapes up. It's tough to call right now.

Square has introduced Crysta's which are a virtual currency to pay for subscriptions and other things. But they haven't really explained how/if they will tie it to in game mechanics in any way.

The videos are pretty accurate, and generally in game graphics of characters are near the quality of cutscenes.

Text chat, i think you'll need to use an external client to run voice with people you know.
