Yes, I know this; please keep this in mind while reading of my plight.

I want the sparkly, shiny shoes of "you really paid $13 just for these? ...really?"

So here's my question:
Does anyone know how long SE keeps account info for FFXI? I don't mean character stuff, more like the actual account. I tried logging in with about 4-to-the-10th-power different passwords, but that didn't seem to work. I tried the password recovery for just about every email I've ever had, and that didn't work, so now I'm wondering if my account was flushed down the "we say we love you, but you haven't been active for many years, and we feel it's time to cut the cord" toilet.

Optional questions for extra credit:
Does anyone know what kind of account info they will request if I need to (please, for the love of pizza, no) actually call someone?
How I can get a trial for FFXI?
If I use a trial for FFXI, and decide to subscribe, will it make my account active right away, or do I actually need to wait for the trial time to expire?

...all this for an in-game item. Before you say it, read the subject again.

Call the Square-Enix office in CA. The number is (310) 846-0345.
They'll ask you a few questions to verify your identity. Once you've passed that test, they'll be able to tell you the status of your account.

I had to re-activate my char after 1.5yr cancel.
Yes they "USUALLY" keep your info and yes they keep your char and items on server.
Im not sure what causes them to fully delete a char or not.

They will reset your password and.or user name but you must have.
Billing Address
last 4 digit Credit Card
email address you used for account
registration code for FFXI or Playonline
username (if you only want password)
phone number on file

(I had to give 4 of these in order to get password reset)
Good luck

I'm just worried they will ask me about outdated info (old CCs, addresses I can't remember ><). So long as my account is still serving as at least a doorstop or a filler crate in the Indiana Jones/US Government Secret Warehouse of These-Don't-Officially-Exist, then I would rather them just email me the password or a way to reset it. I just can't seem to find my account.

I think you have to call them anyway. I don't think they would just email you anything relating to your password.

I don't remember there being a trial FFXI, so if you can't remember your password and you REALLY want those shoes... you might have to buy a new copy and start over... but I am unsure how the system sees your first 30 days seeing as it is free... it shouldn't matter, but who knows with SE.

BTW... the game/software is cheap nowadays... should be able to find it somewhere for $15-$19. Just google it... might even be able to find a place where you can just buy a digital download.

You can digital download from the playonline website through Direct2Drive.
You can digital download from steam.
You can digital download from gamestop.com

If I am not mistaken (as posted) all range from the 10-20$ for POL, FFXI, RoZ, CoP, ToAU, WoG, first 3 add-ons.
Not that you care about any of that... all we are in it for is DA BOOOOTS!

They will ask you questions but you can easily say... that card is inactive now and I dont have the last 4 digits.
The main questions will be, your name on file, billing address, phone number, and POL user name.

Just remember that if you go that route you may have to wait until the free trial is over before you link your FFXIV account.

I too decided to pay 13 dollars for the shoes OP ^^.
I didn't have my old CC info, as that card had expired.
They were fine with the personal info on your account and the reg codes. I did this all through the chat support.

Good Luck^^

I just reactivated last night after over 4 years of inactivity. My 19sam/30war Elvaan is still there, in all his utter lack of glory (now...he was VERY well eq'd at the time).

So, as long as you can get the ID and password, you couldn't have a problem. No reason to keep around a 4 year old account but delete one that's played more recently.

Wow yeah your account has really been through a loop.

You should definitely call the POL hotline and talk with someone to see what they can do for you.

Here is the number

As long as your FFXI account is active and, presumably, not in free trial mode you'll get the boots when you link your FFXIV account to your square enix account. The boots should then appear on any character you make thereafter.

Hopefully it will be a straight movement speed increase when you equip them like Crimson Cuisses did in FFXI. I'll feel ripped off it it has silly cooldowns or limited charges.
