Well I passed the minimum but didn't make it to recommended because of my CPU. I've been running FFXIV fine so far and I get about 50-60 fps out in field and 20-30 fps in crowded places such as around aethyrites and the leve counter. Game settings are at 1920x1080 windowed mode with all setting on high/highest. Right now I am using an intel quad core Q9400 @2.6G (can't overclock sad story) and I was wondering if upgrading my CPU to say an i7 will really make much of a difference.

What do you mean it won't work on my Inspiron 1526 running Ubuntu? Haters.

Yeah, not saying the link is bad or anything but I am always leary on threads linking to site's that want to install ANYTHING on my PC.

If an admin would come along and verify the site and what you download is safe... then that is a different story.

The website is safe. Don't believe me, ask Nvidia, they use it in their "Nzone".

That site has been around for a long time, it's trustworthy though not always accurate. Especially for games that aren't optimized well and have some issues like FFXIV does at the moment. It says my PC can barely run the game, though I have an i7 920 and 2 GTX 285's and play at 1920x1080, 4xAA and everything on high with 50-60 FPS.

I wouldn't worry about the CPU upgrade, just because FFXIV "says" you need the newest i7 does't mean that you actually need it.. I run the Q9600 and I get the same bs when running that test but in game im doing 45-60 FPS depending on where I am...

Believe me you don't need to fork our several 100 bucks for a new CPU/MOBO, and possibly ram just to get 10 more FPS when you wont even notice the difference.

When you are watching a movie on your computer you are around 22-25 FPS.

This is the truth. I run dual video cards and sites like this can never register that and always put me below recommended when my machine laughs at recommended specs like FFXIV. It just gives you an basic idear really, don't use it law.

No key loggers you paranoid people :P.
It's a safe page which has been around for many years and it's also verified by sites such as Nvidia.com.

This.

It also does not take into account OCed CPU and GPU with a different (newer) chipset
