My checklist for release day is a nightmare actually. :( Attend classes, the latest one of which is a lab that can run until 9:50 PM EST. Then I have to get in the car and drive about 8 hours to get to my boyfriend's place. Hoping I get out of class "early" (by 8:00 PM EST) so that I can be in bed by 3:00 AM CST... I won't actually get to do anything until the 23rd. If I'm ambitious enough, I might set up the computer and get the game installed so that I can be patching while I sleep. Looong day.

No pre-release/midnight party at my local gamestop for this... so

be at the gamestop front door as they open at 10am.
it's already paid for the CE so, p/up and head to the grocery store for coke, coke and more coke. and some water.
i've already cleansed the area around my computer, so it'll just be a matter of installation, updates and character creation... this for me after playing the beta is the most important aspect of day one!

set up my laptop next to me, as i'm playing full-screen, to surf, chat and check on items as they come up in the game... i've already started a spreadsheet with all the items i come across in the game, what they cost, what the npc's will pay as well as what they sell the items for...

then sit back and enjoy 14.

Hmph. Am I the only one getting this on midnight release? Hope they are at least up and ready by 12:30am when i get home and install so I can patch up. Depending on how slow the servers DL patch I may or may not go to sleep and wake up early in the morning to play. We'll see, I would definitely not take off the first 2 days after release due to how often I've been burned by emergency maintenances and emergency patches that took forever in previous ffxi and expansions. I'll probably clean up the office a bit, maybe move my desk to a more comfortable location so when I play 10hours straight and it becomes light outside the glare doesn't make me hiss and pull my cape over my eyes.

I have been seeing a lot of people enjoying these so-called "ketchup chips." I've never heard of them or seen them in the grocery store. Do they taste like chips and ketchup? Something a bit different? I'm intrigued. I may have to find them and try them out.

Well they taste a little different from just ketchup, and like everything some people like them and others don't. On my hand I LOVE THEM, it is usually not a good idea to put a bag within my reach or else they will be gone pretty quick. I don't know why but they have always been my favorite flavor. There is one down side though the can stain your fingers red for a little bit, nothing some good ol scrubbing can't fix though :).

6. Go through the long, over extended freak-out of the confusing registration/payment process.

    1. Hope I'm fully moved in to my new place by then.*
    2. I hope FiOS is installed by then
2b. I might have to buy a wireless N adapter.
    3. Head over to gamestop after work. Install game/patch.
3b. Take a bike ride/grab dinner while patching.
    4. See how the well the game is optimized, and upgrade my computer if necessary.
    4b. Play game.

Otherwise, it's just another game; I don't really have any pre-game rituals or anything.

*Create room in new home called "Android's Dungeon." Install retina scanner at entry, and procure enough MREs to last 6 months to a year depending on how long my wife, friends and work realize I'm missing.
