I might not be the first person to notice this, but is the dragon deal in Mor Dhona the fight from the opening cinematic? I have placed the images side by side for comparison.

If so, I wonder why there is water everywhere in the video and Mor Dhona appears to be landlocked...

I think that it's perfectly clear it's the same dragon and airship.

How could you doubt it?

Well, I guess like it seemed more like they were in a larger body of water than a lake, but another look seems to indicate that they are in Mor Dhona.

Oops. Either way, still cool!

Yep. Same dragon. I can't wait for the quest/mission that explains that entire story. And I hope the boss fight for that quest line is EPIC!

I wouldn't call it a dragon so much as a bahamut.

South-east part of the lake. I went around the whole deal, to every crystal, too. No way to get anywhere closer to it.

SE is gonna let us relive the bigger portions of the storyline too, so I hope this fight is gonna be awesome.

I'm more curious about why all those monsters were shooting out of that green explosion thingy.

The similarity to the Mor Dhona Dragon/ship and the footage int he trailer was first mentioned in this thread on Mor Dhona. There is also quite a bit of discussion and analysis of the different parts of the trailer in the thread announcing the new video - New "trailer", official opening movie. The dragon/ship similarity was then again brought up in this thread - Research after seeing the Trailer. The most recent trailer/dragon/airship discussion is on this thread Do garleans control the dragons or the airships?

As to your question as to why there is water in the video while the area is landlocked is because the airship crashed into a lake, not a sea. That, and the fact (mentioned in the last thread I linked to) that the event that the character in the trailer flashed back to was from 15 yeas ago, it could be assumed that there has been some changes to the terrain in that time as a result of the crash.

I don't think it's dead. I think it's just 'sundered' the land with its 'evil' essence, hence the sudden spewing of Ifrit, Titan etc, and gone into a kind of suspended animation (petrify). Why waste all your energy when you can take a breather and send out some minions? :D

I expect later on it'll be a NM/boss on a huge scale when the effect is reversed.

Thanks for the analysis! This really cleared up a lot for me. Rank up for pure excellence in posting.

I will be sure to investigate those threads more closely.
