So, i'm sure im not the first to put two and two together and assume that mor dhona is infact the area from the trailers. I assume it was a beautiful place, then got blasted to **** from that big battle, some dragon came along and pwned a giant airship, landed in the lake, and in the midst of all that, tore the zone to ****.

Ever since i saw the first trailer ive been amazed at the look of that zone, waterfalls, giant rock formations penetrating through the ground, the trees and what have you, it's got to be the most beautiful looking place ive ever seen. But in the game, the zone is a creepy, grim, dark place.

Is anybody else worried/dissapointed that we will never see the zone as is in the trailers?

Do you ever get to that city on the arched rock in FFXI? Tavnazia I guess? :P

That ****** me off in XI too actually. They show the coolest areas in the trailer and never actually release them. I mean you could see tavnazia from a distance in XI but couldn't actually go there.

/sigh

Isnt Mor Dhona just a cave area? I thought that was one of the places I checked and it was just rock caves.

Wait, are you complaining that the zone doesn't look like a CGI render in game? What did you expect...?

For the love of the Twelve, don't try to get there via Coerthas, that's for sure. Poked around Coerthas from the Gridania side last night (was at the camp nearby and figured why not), and apparently the only other connection was Mor Dhona. The problem is that near the camp (about halfway through Coerthas) there are huge choke points and Wild Hogs pretty much sit at the chokes. The fun thing about them is that they aggro but don't give you any indication until you just up and die from a 1604-damage Snort to the back from like 100 yards. x.X

i got there fine through the coerthas, Mind you i got to a lot of other places that were past high aggro mobs. If your patient its pretty easy, just wait till they aren't looking and run behind them without touching them.

If you look at the stuff in Mor Dhona, it's a scary *** place: http://ffxiv.zam.com/en/zone.html?ffxivzone=10#Related_Mobs

I had mentioned in the trailer thread being ****** at never being able to go to Tavnazia. We better get sent into that crashed airship for XIV missions, dang it!!

you seem to have missed the point my friend, im not comparing graphical quality. Im talking about the zone going from being a gorgeous blend of green trees, crystal clear waters and white rock to a grey barren wasteland.

im not saying the zone isn't nice, its very cool in its own right, im just dissapointed that we may never see the zone that first got me so excited about eorzea.

I'm fairly certain that Mor Dhona is merely a small section of the larger Silvertear Falls area, which still exists (it's marked on the left side of the Mor Dhona map, and is marked separately on the larger Eorzea map.) There's still a good chance that we'll be able to visit Silvertear Falls as more areas open up.

Actually if you wanna see choke point try going through Black shroud. Past the water area it is pretty much as useful as running head first into a Mack truck. There is 1 window where the Hellbenders and the lindwurm will move... you may have to wait 20 minutes for it.

Coerthas was actually very wide open and easy to get through for me. There's multiple paths to most places and where there isn't the hogs will move to far walls and face them. That gives you a giant window to go through.

TBH I never made it to Mor Dhona and with so many people on forums around the net talking about how awesome it is its easy to cave and looks at all the screens but I'm waiting for it to awe me in game - I'm more hyped to see this **** zone than I am to play the retail version of the game lol.
