Anyone know if on release day you will have to completely uninstall the Open Beta, or will it simply update the Open Beta to retail version via updater?

Thank you for your participation in the FINAL FANTASY XIV Open Beta Test.

The Open Beta Test will end at 17:00 (PDT) on Sunday Sep. 19, 2010. Following the official launch of FINAL FANTASY XIV, please uninstall the beta client “FINAL FANTASY XIV Beta Version”.

Installing the release version of “FINAL FANTASY XIV” or other software developed by our company while “FINAL FANTASY XIV Beta Version” remains installed may cause certain issues. Should you try to uninstall “FINAL FANTASY XIV Beta Version” after installing the release version, certain settings may be reset.
* The language setting of the Operating System will be used to determine the default language setting for the release version of FINAL FANTASY XIV.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and thank you for your understanding.

Taking just a shot in the dark but as many games I guess Final Fantasy XIV beta version will leave your user files after uninstall it, where your character templates are located.

I seem to remember (but can't for the life of me remember where) seeing that supposedly in addition to OB names being reserved on the release versions of the servers, we would somehow be keeping our templates, too. All I can think of there is that the retail installer will check for the beta files and pull them over. But to be safe, it would be prudent to make backups of your beta data as posted in the link from TaruHunk. :)

With news that they are adding at a minimum new Hairsytles, I'm not going to worry if my stuff is backed up or not really. This means the same for wifey probably - she'll want to try them all too.

I'm probably going to uninstill my Beta client tonight - just to be that more ready since I've done about everything I care to in the OB.
