Hi guys,

I'm a bit confused as I read 2 contradictory information regarding serveur population in FF14.

Can you guy confirm that indeed all serveur are international (ie: asia,Us, euro people can join any serveur and all serveur are gonna be a mix of all)?

also, I initially played FF11 with a Canadian version (also I'm a Euro guy and I'm currently living in japan....). should I buy again a Canadian or US version in order to keep my same SE account (I have one since I played FF11)

basically, is the system about that the same as for FF11 (international serveur, but you need a POL version from the same country you initially created your account with to create/delete char and change creadit card info etc.)

I read that IME is already available and therefore it is already possible to write japanese on a non-*** version. Is it true???

Basically, I would like to avoid playing on a japanese version (I can read but I'm slow at it) if I can avoid it, providing that I can still play with japanese people (and mostly have ppl connected during my playtime)

I checked the search function and browsed the forum a bit but couldn't get a clear answer.

thanks in advance. I still need to make my pre-order since I don't know yet what country to buy the game from >_<

The only country that's currently segregated from the main servers is China. Which I'm sure is due to their internet laws. They're blocked off from a lot of information. Censorship and such by their gov.

hmmm, I just bought an US version from Amazon... 2-4 days for delivery orz...
At least it will be in english and I should avoid the first days rush to login... Hard to convince myself that it is better as I have along w/e from thursday onward, but may not have the game just yet ; ;
I really wish they could ship the thing ealrier (but not accept the registration online before the 22th)that would be funnier (but POL would be a LOT more crowded lol)

anyway, more comments welcomed, but it should be ok that way.
If anybody has information about IME im interested :)

I'm playing from China ^^; We're not 'segregated' atm, and I doubt this will happen before quite some time. SE has a deal with a local company, but now they will certainly have to localize it, and believe me, this takes time... I localize MMOs for a living. My guess is that when they do implement this, there will always be a way to keep playing on whatever server you choose, provided you have a non-Chinese client.

For now I'm gonna do what I've done for FF XI and buy a US version.

Server are indeed international, so version you are buying have no influence on what server you have access (except maybe China).

HOWEVER! Version you use will have influence on what credit card you can use and from where you can log in.

Read this carefuly before buying FFXIV from a country different than where you are located:

Please keep in mind that registering a different region will disable you from using any services or products that you had been using on your Square Enix account up until now

hmmmm. My real country of residence is Japan. I don't mind mentionning that my country of residence is US though. I don't see any mention that your "credit card" needs to be from the same country ofresidence though. The currency needs to be, but I can pay in USD even with a JPY or EUR credit card (I used to do for FF11), I just have some small fees everytime.
The thing is if they block my country of residence based on IP, im roasted.
Since they actually ask for your country of residence, I suppose they dont.....

I really hope I will be able to play with my US FF14 version from Japan, would be really ****** to finally have to buy a separate Jp version and have to play in Japanese. The confort isnt the same....

I will try to log on my FF11 account to check.

Thanks for the info.

I think all version comes in all four language like beta.
They had say something related to setup, default installation language will follow your "system locale" language.

and by looking at these website
http://jp.finalfantasyxiv.com/#/about/game_info
http://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/#/about/game_info
http://eu.finalfantasyxiv.com/#/about/game_info

It wrote that it is available in four language, but maybe you can ask them through support-desk.

hmmm, I wonder. that would be too good to be true to be honest.
Any beta-testeur can confirm that it is possible to change the language of the game (meaning all languages are included in each version, which wouldnt be far fetched since it is a global release and its not like text, even in several languages takes much storage room)

I cancelled my amazon order for now, ready to do it again before tuesday lol.
I will ask the euro support (japanese one is closed on Monday to since it is a holiday here)

thanks for your help everybody.

actually your saying "like beta" meaning I have my confirmation already. Need the SE support confirmation now. thanks a bunch. I just sent the question.

I REALLY hope it is true that we can switch language directly in-game (or at least during the install). That would be sooo refreshing to finally get 1 developper who "gets" it. Not everybody his living in his own country...

cheers.

hmmmmm, installing the game, I could choose english, but after that it turns sometimes in english sometimes in *** (and even in French for whatever reason Oo )
Im afraid of linking my FF14 code to my account as I really dont want the game to b in ***.
Anybody who already connected to the game can confirm it s possible to change the game language directly in game (cant change it on Se account once region is chosen (i chose *** since all was in english and now I dont know how to change, below link where it was explained is under maintenance atm...)
