My marauder is going to need lots of abilities from other classes. Mostly, it will be a mar/tha mix i think.

Picked conjurer, that's the one I've been enjoying the most. I think early on when it's fun & easy I'll level a little bit of everything. But when you start getting into 20+ and lots of exp needed for 1 level that's when I'll probably get into more of a focus with the magic jobs. Though I'll still level a bit of everything now & then...maybe eventually leading to some hybrid abomination of a class that makes me happy...

Funny, when I chose Fisher, it only showed one vote.

I do, however, also plan on being a Lancer, Culinarian, and possibly Leatherworker.

I want to be a Marauder and my craft will most likely be Carpenter (I want to make a pirate ship) with Botanist as my main DoL job.

Main in lancer all the way, I've always had a soft spot for spears/lances.

The only idea I've come up with so far thats outside of the usual mold, is a lan/conj combo, to provide buffs (played kinda like cor or bard was in FFXI), but I don't know how useful that would work out. Probably just end up throwing speed surge on my conjurer though, I'm not all that confident that cross class abilities are going to be great in a party when someone's likely to have them on their main anyways.

After trying different jobs, I find whacking stuff with a great axe to be very effective stress reliever. So I'll probably go with Marauder at release, while leveling other jobs for some of their choice abilities.

Um...I don't think you can. I tried to do that with my Marauder, only to find out you need to equip a polearm to perform Speed Surge. So basically it's a job-specific ability.

Oh, thats unfortunate. I never actually got it to try it on other classes. they should give us a better idea of whats specific to classes, (or they did and I didnt read carefully).

Maurauder for me. I loved WAR in FFXI, and this is similar enough that I don't feel too out of my element. Still, one night I was drunk and couldn't find a voke-like ability. Either it's not there, or I couldn't make sense of letters n stuff.

At any rate, it's a fun class.

Wow the spread is pretty even except for THM, why do people hate on THM so much?

I don't hate on THM, in fact it's my favorite of the two Arts of Magic. It's just that I'll likely be MAINing Gladiator.

I'm surprised THM isn't getting a little more love.I plan on playing THM mostly to use abilities on my Conj, but playing THM in Beta was pretty fun.

I wasn't in beta (waiting for graphics card to arrive) but I will probably start with THM and level all the DOM and DOW sporadically as the interest arises.

It lists in the ability "Speed Surge" that it requires Polearms. You won't be able to slot that as any other job. Still, you could main Lancer and slot some Thaum abilities if you like.

For me, I'll be focusing on Marauder as best as I can, but even in beta I found myself getting distracted at least a few times a day by different classes and swapping out my weapon for a different one, or for a pickaxe, or a needle and thread;)

But I really will try to focus on Marauder;)

3rded. Seems like it might be seen as a black sheep at first but I definitely enjoyed it so far. As for a secondary job I'm not too sure but I'm very much interested in DoL and DoH classes. Tried a bit of Weaver and liked it a lot and funny enough I do sew/fashion for a hobby IRL.

I think for me, and maybe for others too, thaumaturge sounded like the job I wanted before I got into beta. Then maybe I built up some super cool idea in my head and got let down once I started playing it. I thought I would level conjurer a bit to supplement my thaumaturge, but got sucked into the power of conjurer and never looked back. I'll still level both and I'm thinking my view on thaumaturge will probably change if I get it higher than level10

I think it's because it just feels like it lacks power, and even with all the debuffs, a solid utility when you could go conj and PEWPEW to your hearts content instead. It's so RDM but without that chokehold on reducing party downtime like few else can. Also RDM without the perks of well.... RDM/pick your pwnage sub lol

I could become wrong quickly. IT very much remains to be seen what forms the game will take in the end and at end game. I personally will not have thm as a main... I am interested in it some tho so I will likely play it for what it does currently do when I'm at surplus.

As for the Speed Surge it requires a polearm. I wanted it on my archer as well and was disappointed to see that news. It's such a nice ability. You CAN swap lancer and apply it and usually have some effect it will igve for maybe an edge on harder fights but you are talking serious downtime. I have done that and it does kinda work just not well enough that I'd do it normally

I picked Goldsmith as a main but really the question doesn't work for me in the sense that during open beta for example I thought I would just push on CON/THM but it turns out as the beta ends goldsmith is my highest job.

And while conjurer is a close second - I have leveled Gladiator only a few levels below that.

And now for release I've decided on a slightly different craft progression - it will still end with goldsmith as my first "main" crafting job, but will start with me getting a few easy levels of another crafting job while creating a material for me to use in goldsmithing.

It is funny but I don't really like mining yet. I am leaning towards botanist as a DoH job, just like I am leaning towards Conjurer as my DoM main.

My mains will probably be:

DoH: Goldsmith
DoW: Gladiator
DoM: Conjurer
DoL: Botanist

My subs will probably be:

DoH: ?
DoW: Pugilist
DoM: Thaumaturge
DoL: Miner

Most probably Pugilist for me, I am really enjoying the class and I always wished I had levelled my Monk past level 25 in XI. After that I will go with Marauder, I always enjoyed my Great Axe Warrior.

I'm probably gonna start as conjurer, just because I don't like the idea of chucking rocks through the opening scenes. In open beta I ended up leveling botanist to the highest rank, followed by weaver, conjurer, alchemist and finally gladiator. I'll probably be focusing on harvesting and crafting with conjurer as my main battle class. I may also try leveling gladiator and thaumaturge to mix-and-match something similar to a red mage.

THM just feels weaker than Conj right now. Scourge/Banish don't do as much damage as say fire, Maybe that'll be different when they get more nukes, but then Conj gets their own ele-def debuffs. Outside of Stygian Spikes and slow, there aren't a whole lot of abilities for THM that Conj doesnt have their own version of. Oh, and Cure > Sacrifice due to ease of use.

I'll be starting out as a Lancer, but I really like what I'm hearing about all these other classes. So while Lancer is going to be my "main" I'll be trying my hand out on Alchemist, Conjurer, Gladiator, and Marauder. Of course time permitting and such. I guess I fall right into what SE wants us to do, level everything and then mix & match.

SE attempts "gil pilfer" on ReiThor's wallet. Success, access granted

I picked Glad but will most def level other job skills.

Heck in beta my Glad....is non-existant xd my 'main' character in beta doesnt even HAVE IT and the one dude with it is lv3? i think. I am picking it as main cause its the only one I havnt mained yet >_>

I will make a DoH character though simply for the facilities and he shall no nothing outside of DoH and DoL XD

And I am not wholly sure if I will make a 3rd character for casters or just mold them into my Glad. If I cannot get more storage and ability to reassign stat pts more often for job changes, then a 3rd character shall be born known as the "Oh sparkly! <Boom>" character.

Thems my goals.

Seeing as how the leves gives you free skillups on crafts no one should have an excuse to level a couple of crafts at least.

Interesting. I really expected to see Lancer at the top. At least we'll have no shortage of possible healers (and you Conjurers WILL become healbots probably more frequently than you'd like). I'm going to go Gladiator initially with a focus on tanking. In the incredibly unlikely event that SE has made dedicated roles such as tanking obsolete, I'll probably go Thaumaturge or something.

Nah, I won't...that's not to say I don't enjoy buffing & healing, it's actually kinda fun sometimes, but anyone expecting me to be their healbot will be disappointed... = P

Plus I love how "hundred fists"-like the new H2H is now.

I cant comment directly about it because I havent leveled it too too high but I've heard from several friends who say its showing signs of being nerf worthy very soon. Still yet its very tempting... Im curious about why its so good myself. I'll ask them about details 2mor

I think the reports about THM are exaggerated, considering most of the OP-ness is in specific situations. Like Punishing Barbs vs 1000 needles, etc. Considering their lack of direct damage compared to the rest of the jobs, it seems pretty well balanced.

They seem to be the new party support job. How that works for Ranking up idk, seeing as how any buffs/healing do not award ranking up points.

I don't have enough experience personally to answer that. My highest THM rank was 8.

But just looking over the spell list and abilities, THM is almost all support, especially in its versatility in managing enfeebling and buffs... like transfering enfeebles to the mob, or buffs to allies, etc.

And the auras of course all seem nice on paper, but you'd have to ask a career THM how well it all works. Stacking the various spikes seems fun, but they were never that great in XI so idk.

NO CLUE! First I wanted to be Marauder, then Gladiator, then Pugilist. Now I'm thinking Lancer or Gladiator again. I KNOW that I want to be an Armorer/Goldsmith but that's the only thing I'm really decided on yet.

I'll probably go: PUG-LNC-MRD-GLD. I should be able to make a shield by then so we'll see how that goes.

At first I wanted to be Archer/Carpenter/Botanist but I don't really like Gridania(the whole mazes and green stuff thing) so I'm going to be a Dunesfolk Lalafell Marauder/Blacksmith/Miner and start out in LL. Maybe even Musketeer if that ever gets released. Or even back to the Archer combo at Gridania? :P who knows... I guess I will figure out what I want right as I'm creating my character.
