What I'm expecting from this gameFollow

Hello everyone,

What I really want from this game is something that I can remember later on. For example, I can vividly remember the swim with sharks competition in my "guild" on anarchy online. And so many good memories from other mmorpgs (btw this is my first message to these forums I think for a long time, so hello everyone, I've been reading your messages here, and that made me to write something here, ok this is too long text to be included inside brackets (those are brackets right? :D lol, anyway I'm from finland.. SO EXCUSE ME!)).

When I started to play with final fantasy xiv open beta, I was little bit disappointed first. However I continued playing and I begin to enjoy this game more and more. Some how it gave me more feelings than what I've usually got from other mmorpgs (e.g. aion, oh man.. 2 months of grinding and I was so tired). It's not fast paced at all. I somehow feel it's for people who takes taker time to do things. I mean when you have to set the mode active and start fighting, it takes time. And sometimes I get very frustrated that I'm poisoned and I'm trying to heal myself, I panic and boom. I'm dead. Because I feel controls are not working fast enough, but hey, its the game. Players have to cope with the game, that is the game. If you can't handle it, well.. It's not my problem :D.

And what I want to say to other players who likes that game has to be something like they've already get used to. I want to say: Try it! Give it a chance. For some reason I like to find ******* treasures when I'm walking around. Oh man was I surprised when I get to loot first visible/invisible(to others) chest!

Then I tried to walk to other places using roads. I noticed how gridania would suite me well when starting the game, because its near of large hunting areas. Then I continued walking the road and I arrived other starting areas.

...

Ok, enough of story telling.

What I wanted to say is .. this game has surprised me in a mysterious way and I really wish that its going to keep me playing like ffxi did. And I hope that I meet some nice people.

THE END

Welcome to the board. I hope you make a ton of memories that last as long as you play the game. From everything I've heard thus far, there's going to be lots to enjoy this time around. See you on the battlefield!

What I expect to happen in FFXIV is one of 3 things.
1) I love the game and play hardcore for several years to come.
or
2) I figure out after 2-3 months I really dislike the game and quit playing. Cata will be coming out around that time so chances are I will get roped back into wow.
or
3) I kinda like the game but after 2-3 months I quit playing super hardcore and over then next few months watch my play time dwindle down to almost nothing. At this point I will unsub and HOPEFULLY walk away from my MMO addiction forever.

[] = brackets (or square braces)
{} = braces (or curly braces)

(Only because you asked, hehe. ^^)

So far FFXi was my first and my best MMORPG i tried a lot of others, but it always draw me back to FFXI. So i hope to get the same feeling from FFXIV. Beta looks fine till know, they need to adjust some samler things, but so far its a really good game

I agree. FFXI was my first MMO that I really stuck with, and the primary reason for that was because of the community.

Yes, FFXIV has UI issues and many many other things not polished at this time, but I see the potential in a great game still. I like the DoH & DoL jobs. I can competently play the DoW & DoM jobs into the teens & 20's, BUT I am hoping for much more clearly defined parties and roles. I am hopeful and confident that those will come in time. I am not looking for the exact same game as FFXI, but I strongly hope that the feeling of community comes over to FFXIV. Without ever expecting it, I made great friendships in XI and I logged in just to socialize with my friends and comrades probably even more so than I did to "play" the game.

I am hoping that the Linkshells in FFXIV become just as dynamic and rely on team cooperation just as much as they did in XI. That is my primary expectation.

American usage only.

In British usage, () are in fact brackets, [] are square brackets, and {} are curly brackets.

And let's not forget ⟨ ⟩, the angle brackets or chevrons (normally typed <>).
