So everytime I try to summon my retainer to check if anything I put up for sale actually sold it tells me "You cannot summon that retainer right now". I tried calling him from inside the market wards and everything but no matter what it doesn't let me call him. Is there something I might have toggled that is preventing me from doing this or some kind of glitch?

Try changing locations. Some locations may already have a retainer or might not be allowed to display one. Also try changing market places.

If your retainer is currently in er, bazaar mode you can't summon. I assume you are trying to interact with the retainer in the marketplace of another city. If this isn't the case I am not sure what is causing the problem.

You cannot call your retainer from another location once you set it as bazaar mode to sell things. To access it, you will have to go into the market ward, target it and talk to it. You can check your retainer position in your retainer list. So if you are heading to another city and you only have "one retainer", i would suggest you go to the market ward to keep your retainer away from bazaar mode, or just dont sell anything not worth selling to save the trouble, or you can get another retainer.

Hrm...speaking of which, does anybody know where these mysterious bells are that were mentioned by the person dealing with the retainers? Me's in Gridania and I can't remember ever bumping into one. I find it rather tedious running all the way to the market every time I want to unload my inventory. And the NPC said those bells would be all over the place so you can call your retainer.

Are they not implemented yet, or is kitty simply being blind? Ya never know... *prepares to hide somewhere, just in case*

There's one in every inn and there's usually one in the vendor areas as well. I find that they're a bit difficult to spot sometimes...you have to know what they look like in order to really be able to spot them.

From what i know there are three area that you can summon retainer in gridiana,
1. Guild-house(not a bell, rather a swind-door on the right to the counter)
2. Area for you to sit between the 2 npc vendor area
3. X Garden(MarketWard)(Can be found on map)
