So, you don't have anything to do but complain about FFXIV? You are on nearly every thread trolling about the game. Maybe you should get a hobby or something.

Oh I'm sorry, I didn't realize that my game wasn't crashing all those times. Nah you're right it's actually awesome and works really smoothly. Whoops. Well great now the beta's almost over anyway.

Boy do I sure feel silly.

There must be something wrong with your computer.

Or the final fantasy gods hate you because of how easy you are willing to turn on them. The twelve must be angry.

So, that means you *don't* have anything better to do than troll. How sad.

I uninstalled FFXIV beta. After it took a full six minutes, to uninstall, it peaked my curiosity. So I uninstalled Aion, since I haven't played it in a long time and don't plan on returning... Aion finished in 30 seconds or less. I offer no opinions, it is what it is.

I'm glad I'm not the only one that has noticed this.
#10bsphil, Posted: Sep 19 2010 at 1:09 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) SE breaks their dat files down into completely individual files. This results in the hard drive read/write times going way down because it needs to stop and restart reading streams of data thousands and thousands of times while uninstalling. Aion uses a few gigantic master dat files allowing the uninstallation process to go drastically more quickly. Same reason why downloading patches in FFXI is so spotty, you're downloading individual dat files which ends up leading to constant starting and stopping of the TCP connections, adding a ton of downtime to the download stream. FFXIV does this correctly, they're using patch files for downloads now. Now if only they'd be more open about letting you use torrents to download patches... it can be done but they don't do much to help you (there's no option to just download the torrent at the moment, and they're not exactly obvious to find).

I couldn't find FFXIV in my "Uninstall Programs" so I just ended up deleting the folder.

Same thing right?

Kinda. You'll have a bunch of files left over in Documents and the registry will have some superfluous entries in it that should probably get removed.

I can get at the Registry files and I wanted to keep the Documents anyway, for the saved character data. I figure I can use it as reference/comparison for when it goes retail.

On Windows 7, go to Programs and Features, right click FINAL FANTASY XIV Beta Version and click uninstall. Should be the same on XP, except instead of Programs and Features it's Add/Remove Programs.
