XIV doesnt seem to have a dedicated healer class. so far it looks like both casters will do some aoe healing, and most classes have some way to heal themselves.

Out of the two DoM, Conjurer is probably the "Better" healer (compared to Thaumaturge) thanks to his AoE stoneskin, cure and protect/shell buffs.

Thaumaturge has some abilities you may want to learn and equip on your Conjurer to help, such as slow, blind, dia, bio, sacrifice (a cure with a regen component).

If its going to be the same on release i dont know, but in beta both Thaumaturge and Conjurer learned a "Healing spell" at level 4. So i see no reason why anyone who is planning on leveling a DoM class shouldnt grab both, or even DoW classes also.

It's actually fairly complex. Despite what anyone else may tell you, it hinges largely on moon phase, time of day, and which direction you're facing when you cast the spell. Generally speaking, any spell has a chance to heal assuming your class rank is an even multiple of your physical level. Unless you're standing in water at the time, in which case the inverse is true. Also, from the open beta group experience we know that healing is not really necessary in XIV, as the better alternative is to simply bounce hate around your party and let each member soak their share of grievous wounds, after which the best healer is the one least influenced by ADHD and is thus able to stand still long enough to let their HP regen. While out wandering the field, it's easy to identify the healer in any given party...they're the one holding the bow.

I plan on working on both classes until I get every heal/buff/debuff that is possible. That way I can make a more custom healer to my liking.

You were only supposed to put a few drops under your tongue not the whole bottle.

Smiley: grin

Anyway - Since Sacrifice maintains the ability to be AOE even when equipped on Conjurer- Conjurer has a bit of an advantage for a main class healer, because the Thaumaturge cannot use Cure as an AOE.

I would guess that people who market themselves as healers will be Conjurers with access to THM abilities.

Cure can be AOE on thaumaturge. The main reason why conjurer edges out thaumaturge when it comes to healing is that cure is 20-25% stronger.
