So I recently reformatted my computer (about two-three months ago) and noticed a weird problem - none of the SE websites (SE accounts, the Beta dev site, etc.) wouldn't load in Firefox when they worked fine before I'd reformatted. I tried in IE, which seemed to work fine... so I chalked it up to an add-on conflict from Firefox and moved on. (I've since determined it's not an add-on conflict and still don't understand why Firefox won't load it...)
Regardless, about a week or so ago, I noticed that when I tried to log into the beta to play around with different character appearance builds, the game itself wouldn't allow me to click the log in button. I figured this was due to maintenance or something until it became a persistent issue. Thought it might be a client issue, so I uninstalled and am patiently waiting for the 22nd.
Then today, when I read about the new "Lodestone" site for logging in and checking info, I found it wouldn't load up in Firefox (no surprise). When trying in IE, however, it gives me the same problem that the game did - I can't click the log in button. Additionally, the log in page is no longer loading all the items on the page. The VeriSign button, as well as the two software keyboard and help buttons no longer load in IE either. This worries me as I'm concerned I have some kind of virus despite my security.
Any techies out there have any idea what could have happened? I'm going to start trying some random system restores to see if I can find a point at which I CAN log in. The confusing part is I haven't downloaded or installed anything unusual recently and my PC is pretty secure. I use AVG and scan daily, and have Spy Bot S&D, as well as several add-ons for Firefox that prevent pretty much anything from running off a website that I don't want running. Regardless, I'd rather avoid having to reformat and reinstall (AGAIN) if I don't have to.
