First of all, I'd like to say a huge thank you to everyone who participated in the Open Beta Test!

From the beginning of the Alpha Test to the end of the Open Beta, our team has worked tirelessly to implement tester feedback. We've spent every possible moment making adjustments and addressing issues to ensure an enjoyable playing experience. With our focus so heavily on this task, however, our responses and comments to our beta testers were too few and far between.

While that's something we need to work on, I always see a lot of staff members reading the Beta Test Site as I walk around the development area. Our team is eager to answer the wishes of our players, and we believe that concentrating on the official release of the game is the most important step in that direction.

Aside from comments from me as the director, we are currently discussing with the operations team the best ways to respond to your requests and concerns during official service.

From this point forward, we hope to communicate with you not as testers of the game, but as players.

We will also be paying close attention to comments from communities beyond the Beta Test Site, and responding with either a comment of our own or with actual changes in the game as the situation demands.

The official release of FINAL FANTASY XIV and the world of Eorzea await you.

I look forward to meeting you there as a fellow player!

FINAL FANTASY XIV Director
Nobuaki Komoto

It's so weird to think that release is this week. Time flies.

This week is going to go so slowly. I've been looking forward to FFXIV and the new season of Dexter for sometime now, both of which coming out this week.

Hah, it's going to fly for me. I have to present my research to the department this Friday for my student seminar for this semester. I'm going to be finishing my grading, finishing this week's numerical analysis homework, and finishing up my powerpoint presentation!

I'm glad to see once again that they're adamant about making this game something that the players want it to be. As with all mmo's they have to keep a certain design path going but at least we know they are trying. I'm still impressed and hopeful. I can't wait to see what else is already in store in that other chunk of GB's the beta didn't have with it.

I've heard SE make this claim before, I'll wait to see how they handle it.

You've heard Tanaka make that claim before. Maybe you've heard Sundi make that claim before. Usually they acknowledge that the communication hasn't been up to par every 18-24 months and then do nothing about it. Komoto has already done a better job than Tanaka or Sundi ever did.

They already made some pretty large changes just in the OB phase. Then came out and addressed their priorities for release. That alone takes care of most of the major problems. 3 weeks in and those major things already being promised. That's faster than any game I've tested has done anything about it's problems already. Unless you wanna count how WoW rewrote Paladin on a cocktail napkin 2 weeks before release and horribly botched it up lol. The rest of the complaints I see are people's personal wishes that honestly most others do not share. I hope those people find a game but I'm pretty sure it won't be this one.

Ok, so another developer is saying the same thing. Again, I'm just waiting to see results.

Doesn't take much to please you, does it?

Honestly, you're really satisfied only by someone saying they plan to interact with the community? That's all it takes? You can't be that naive.

And yet, sadly, they are. It's just another SE apologist fanboy. They're nice for wiping your boots on though, you should try it, the devs already do.

I'll be there playing day one and I know there is a great game in XIV, but in all honesty it's "Welcome to the pay-to-play-beta". Not a bad thing, but it is what it is. As for the message, it would be great to see communication, but I'll set my hopes low.

You see, this is exactly what this "communication" is all about. They tell you things which you can then choose to believe or not believe.

Only real CHANGES to the game are concrete, but that is not enough communication for the community. This is the best we can get, aside from real changes- promises, wishes, you name it.

Being all cynical about it is incredibly silly.

THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT YOU WANTED- and there is NEVER guarantee that it will continue in the future. It either will, or it won't. You can never be sure.

As its come to a close can say the beta was good but had some problems like lag not terrible though
but it is a launch of new game after all.

Im posting here, as during the open beta for whatever reason and still today i could not log into the beta test site where all feedback was, however log into game beta fine .

The start open beta the download client was a nightmare for the huge patch and had to use way of getting it to download faster than 6 days. the most recet patch i downloaded the other day before the beta ended and the speed seemed a bit faster so it might be bit better but i have my worries for when big patches come out that the download client wont be up to the job, time will tell.

Now on to game and i enjoyed it, the combat feels like it will get some use to and you lose all your skills when change from say gladator to fisherman so you have to redo them that was bit annoying.
maybe add a combat npc guide at start area to explain how it all works as its a bit different from ff11 for sure.

what i loved was you gain exp while fishing , after not wanting to fish in ff11 i suddenly wont mind so much in ff14.

i hardly saw most of world but starting areas i was in was well done and seemed be many different things to try out , hope to say alot more after game launch.

i like game visual style alot as well.

To people on alla that have not tried beta and heard bad stories about it well so far what i tried of it it does not seem bad so give it a try for a while make your own mind up.

are the community sites going be doing databases now this site and ff14 core look like good sites to go for info atm.

hopefully squareenix will have some official community sites like they did for ff11.

That would make everyone a "fanboy" then because everyone has been wanting SE to at least communicate and where I come from this is called communication, admitting faults and making promises. Not saying anything at all is no communication.

People need to get off the "Get happy, Become Fanboy" mentality.

Its got nothing to do with that, I don't care what Tanaka or Sundi or Komoto or anyone says - but you can't just take something and leave it at that, you have to put a negative twist on it.
