Received my Collector’s Edition this morning (about 10hrs ago) which was nice. Apparently it was sent Thursday, but just missed delivery for Friday... it was a loong weekend waiting knowing it was sitting in the warehouse just up the road. FYI – Pre-ordered 2 weeks ago from JB-HiFi online here in Sydney, Australia.

For those who were interested I thought I would post some photos for you to enjoy of my unpacking :)
As you can see the box is quite massive. My CE came with:
- The game
- The Behind The Scenes DVD (10 Making of a Realm Clips)
- Travellers Journal
- Tumbler coffee mug
- Security token
- Gorgeous map of Eorzea – which is printed on the same microfiber material that you would clean your classes with. It’s very nice and quite detailed.

The traveller’s journal is very nice for collectors. Each page has a unique artwork, and the back has a number of pages with concept art. The Behind the Scenes DVD is a compilation of the 10 Making of a Realm short clips posted on the official FFXIV YouTube channel. All up – it’s a very nice pack...now to get installing!

So, enjoy!

May I ask which version of the Collector's Edition you purchased (NA, EU, JP)? I was under the impression that the US version was getting just the journal and the EU/JP versions would only receive the tumbler, or something along those lines.

Looks like NA misses out on the Tumbler and the Map and EU misses out on the Right of Passage.

It also says that NA gets Free Gameplay for 30 days listed as a bonus but I believe that is the 30 days free gameplay that all versions receive.

The journal has 100+ pages, each with unique artwork and the pages have inlaid background images as well. Overall the quality is quite spectacular for a freebie! The pages are very much like papyrus and it's put together very well and quite durable. It's also got a bit of weight too it. As the title is embossed on the cover, it is very reserved and could easily be used as an everyday diary if you wish without garnering unwanted attention. It’s very very nice.

Journal thickness compared to game DVD case:

What was the item that you received with the CE? I have read that Australia is not getting the Onion helm over at core.

The map is BEAUTIFUL - it's easily my favourite item in the CE. It's so soft...it's actually alot like a shammy you would clean the car with hehe :) It's quite large too ayou can see in the pictures above. Size is officially: 30 x 50cm. Printed on one side, and detail is excellent.

It was the onion helm indeed. Came with a cute code insert.

Buddy Pass / Guest Pass

Are the passes really described as such on each edition, and if so wouldn't it make more sense to call the EU version a "Mate Pass" if they are going to be informal with the NA version?

I guess a "Mate Pass" might sound a little bit suggestive.

Also, what if we are not friends with the person we want to invite.
Maybe people want to invite their arch nemesis to compete in a contests of superiority, in which case they might not want a Buddy or Guest pass.

Will they be offering Douche and ****** passes?

Further more, maybe we are in neither good or bad relationships with the person we want to invite.
Maybe people would like to invite a woman that they are having casual relations with.

Will there be passes that reflect our indifference to such a person?

Then what about the Japanese, French, German, and Chinese?
Will there be Yūjin, Ami, Freund, and Péngyou passes?

These are the things we need to know.

Yes, they really are described as such on each website.

As for the Mate Pass, that would probably only work in Australia.

Btw, could you give some more piccies of the tumbler/cup/thermos thing? Like what it looks like with the lid off and stuff? Cheers

That's strange, I used to have bunch of EU in my linkshell and I am almost certain they occasionally referred to friends as mates.
I did know that the term was used in Australia though.

But honestly, what is the benefit of giving certain regions different things in the CE. I hope we all end up with the same stuff but honestly if they are different then SE is just cheap. I want a map and tumbler!!

I know right >< I'd much rather have the map than the birth certificate of my character. Gah.

The tumbler would be a nice thing to have too--at least it's practical.

Last post before bed :)

Yes the tumbler is standard thermos material with brown leather band with FFXIV. Also I just checked - it holds 350ml exactly. Interestingly enough...it warns it's not for use with milk, fizzy drinks or fruit juices.... :3...so just water?

Hope these additional pics help you guys out:

Wouldn't you want to mix drinks in it? Isn't that what a Tumbler is for? Can't imagine why those particular warnings are there.

Hey could you write on a peice of paper Australia or something so we can have the street date broken here.
Maybe take a pic of the box it got delivered in too?

As for the tumbler warning, I would imagine its because its brushed aluminium it has grooves which can hold bacteria from milk, and soda would corrode it, its not the material a cup should be made from.

I'm curious as to why they had different stuff in each version of the CE. Why not give each person shelling out that much money the same things, no matter which continent they're on.

Not sure if this helps, but I'm in Victoria, BC and just called my EBGames where I have a preorder for the CE. They said the CE is listed as being available on the 22nd, and they are likely getting the shipment in either tonight or tomorrow. Usually in Victoria we get games after Vancouver (it was a nightmare trying to get WotG when it came out), so there may still be hope!
