Reminder to the Players Who Have Purchased "FINAL FANTASY XIV Collector's Edition"
Upon the start of early access to the Realm of Eorzea, server congestion on the Square Enix Account Management System is expected. By completing the following process on Square Enix Account Management System, you will be able to smoothly begin your adventure.

1. Register Square Enix Account Beforehand For those of you who have not obtained a Square Enix account, please click here and complete the registration process.

2. Selecting the Payment Method
Square Enix Crysta can be selected as the payment method for monthly service fees.
*Additional payment methods will become available after the Square Enix Account Management System maintenance, which will be completed between Sep. 20, 2010 from 19:00 to 23:00 (PDT).

OK, so 9:00pm to 1:00am (CNT) Should be good to go by Tuesday morning.

For those of us not using Crysta, getting onto this site to set up our payment method ASAP Tuesday will help you aviod registration server conjestion in the early launch hours.

I hope separating this from the larger thread will bring attention to it and help spread out the registrations throughout the day on Tuesday. This is something that can be done prior to receiving your CE copy.

EDIT: The site is up now. You can add your Credit Card info, but cannot select the FFXIV Service options without inputting the CD key.

You have another 8 hours until the maintenance is scheduled to end. Unless you're really bored, don't waste your time trying until at least that time. Smiley: smile

Doh!

I just cant keep track of all these different timezones. I am 17 hours ahead of PDT (I think).

I am going to set my computers clock to pdt and start to live on that timezone - that way I will know when maintanence is going on, when servers are down etc.

It is not past midnight PDT... Maintenance is scheduled from 19:00 till 23:00... it is currently 3:21 pm here in PDT... the maintenance hasn't even started, let alone finished...

I know it is probably a simple navigation to the place to enter the billing info, but it would help if someone who knows exactly where to go would post precise directions.

I am headed to the SE Memebers page now to see if I can find it.

Last time I tried to get to the SE Members page by following a pasted link it said the site was under maintenance, but searching for "SE Members" on Google pulled up the page with no problems and I was able to get in that way. Something to keep in mind.

And once I get into the account page, I cant set up a credit card.

I thought I should be able to do this by now and the maintenance later was to enable the set up of alternative payment methods!

If payment is setup prior to the release, will that affect the 30 day free that comes with the game? I imagine many will be using that initially but if it will cause less headache to apply it after the fact as long as it still gives you 30 days of access.

It's open now.

All you can do is register your CC info. It seems you cannot setup the actual subscription. From what I'm seeing, you need the CD code to select the service.

Was anyone able to register their actual subscription somewhere?

Looks like they are delegating the CC billing to a third party company now(Click and Buy). Hopefully this will work out much better than the verified by visa nightmare with FFXI.

You need the game to get options to pay for it.

I'm probably just going to use the Crysta system. seems easier...

Its like pay as you go, which I like.

I added 20$ worth of Crysta just cause that's usually what they charge.

It seems a lot easier to just add Crysta than doing the third party malarkey.

From the "About payment methods" page on the SE account site:

Quote:
In addition to Crysta, you can pay for some services with a credit card or debit card using a ClickandBuy account.
ClickandBuy is an account-based billing system provided by ClickandBuy International Limited. An account can be acquired for free and used to add options and automatically pay service fees per service period. To use credit cards or debit cards as your payment method, select "Credit Card/Debit Card via ClickandBuy account" from the payment method selection screen.
*It is possible to register multiple credit cards and debit cards to a single ClickandBuy account.

For information on service fees, please refer to the service's website.

Depending on your country of residence, Square Enix Crysta may not be available. If you live in such a location, please use "Credit Card/Debit Card via ClickandBuy account" to settle your service fees.
*Square Enix Crysta will become available in more countries as they are legally approved.

Think Crysta is like pre pay, you've paid the cash so it'll take crysta before using a debit/credit card, sorta like setting aside cash for the game

Just posted:

Upon the start of early access on Sep. 21, 2010, server congestion on the Square Enix Account Management System is anticipated. In order to make sure that your adventure begins as smoothly as possible, we recommend that you complete the following steps beforehand:

1. Register a Square Enix Account
For those of you who have not yet obtained a Square Enix account, please complete the registration process at the Square Enix Account Management Site: http://account.square-enix.com/regist/

2. Selecting a Payment Method
Monthly subscription fees for FINAL FANTASY XIV can be paid for by direct payment using credit card or debit card (requires a Click & Buy account) or by using Crysta. For customers planning on paying with credit cards or debit cards, please log in to the Square Enix Account Management System ( http://account.square-enix.com/ ), and then click on the "Register/Update Payment Method" button on the left side of the screen to register your payment card information.

You just need to confirm your email for the click and buy account if your going to use Crysta.

then just buy crysta points from your FFXIV account page.

In my general experience they just charge you (I've been charged anywhere from one cent up to a dollar, depending on who I'm dealing with) to make sure it's an active account in good standing and you should get the money back afterward as far as I care to remember. But that's over here in the US and since you mentioned quid I'm guessing you're EU, so I can only make assumptions about your situation.

1. Your credit card will be charged two random amounts between 1.00 and 1.99 USD.
2. Call your bank or check your credit card statement for these amounts (may take up to 3 business days).
3. Enter these amounts on the credit card confirmation page (on the Settings tab in your ClickandBuy account) within 60 days to finish confirmation.
4. The two amounts are credited to your ClickandBuy account.

It's common practice for credit card acquirers to charge a nominal sum to your card to ensure that it is a valid card and that they're able to post transactions to it.

Right now it seems you can only buy crysta via Click and Buy or with Ultimate Pay.

All the details are here:

Apparently you can buy these cards at a large number of stores including walmart, gamestop, 7-11 and many more.
These give you "Ultimate points" on the playspan website, which can then be used to buy crysta which is used to pay for FFXIV.

There may be quite a few hoops, however this system is considerably better than the payment options for FFXI.

Not so sure about that.. having to buy a card for Points, then use those points to buy Crysta.. and then having to remember to check your Crysta level to go repeat the process... or a few moments to set up the Credit Card that takes care of me having to remember...

As for the not accepting the credit card... did you perhaps space the numbers out? Found you had to leave the spaces out of the CC number. Provided you didn't do something silly like me and use the issue date instead of expiry date.
