Hey all,

I'm starting this thread to replace the Open Beta one as a place for you guys to post any requests for improvements, report bugs, ask questions, and provide general feedback on our site. We appreciate your help in making our site the best it can be!

The auto-complete function was the big one for me. Are there any plans to mark locations on the maps such as mining spots and things of that nature?

Not hugely important, just something I noticed while searching: There are a lot of variations for items where the only difference is that they are dyed a certain color. I'm under the impression that this doesn't really affect stats as of yet and is only cosmetic. Is there any possibility that there will be an option to not include these many variations in your search if you don't want to? It could get fairly cluttered otherwise.

I seen that the searching for crafting/gathering stats has been fixed, and I love it! I'll post more if I find any bugs as I'm sure to be using this a lot.

The items in the recipe database don't generate the scroll-over description box, only the parts do.

Not sure if it was intended, but the same feature on the item you're trying to make would be nice.

We're actually going to be moving the recipes out of the tab, so that will resolve that issue. You'd only need to go to the item page then. You will still need to click the recipe if you want to look at tools and training though.

I'm not sure marking DoL spots is really necessary since the land classes have the ability to hone in on spots.

Ah wait, I see what you mean. This is because it's being linked to a recipe, not the item itself. Hopefully when the tab is implemented, we can change the recipelist to link to item pages.

I also thought of this at first, and agree that it was slightly annoying to see so many versions of the same item pop up. However, I noticed that although the stats are the same, the "base" and "finish" (whatever those are) and of course the recipes are different, so there are actual differences beside just cosmetic ones.

I can see how with more items being added in the future it's going to be quite much though.

- It may be in the release version, but I'm looking forward to some dungeons, instances similar to what you might find in ffxi and wow.

off topic it would be good to figure out if your stats have any effect on professions outside of combat/ magic classes. If not, then I could focus on one or two combat classes without having to distribute my points evenly.

I believe she is talking about feedback for ZAM, and not FF XIV.

Not a biggie, but...why are the NPCs "mobs?" Is there plan in the future to separate the two? Also, it would be nice if we can search/see where items and equipments are sold in each city, and by whom. (Adding corresponding Google dot thingy would be even better!)

That's it for now. :)

Hopefully we'll have info on where to get the items (levequest, monsters, vedors, etc.) in the future. Would be nice to know what type of crystals a certain mob drops and which levequest gives what rewards. Oh, and since I'm on that topic, the reward info for the levequests are missing.

The GL rewards seem to change at random, though I guess after a while they could compile a list of all possible rewards...unless it's a bit different in retail

Regarding the colored items, I'm sorry, but they're deemed separate color items in-game, so we need to have them in the database. You know if we took them out people would be like, WTF, where's the red version!?!

I was actually thinking there might be a way to mark them with a variable like "dyed" and have a checkbox or something so you can "exclude color variations of items". They would still be in the database, but it would cut down on the clutter for people not looking for the colored items. Which I think would be a lot. Just an idea but if it's not possible or too much work than kick it to the curb.

I think you could eliminate those by filtering for "Undyed" versions, that seems to be what they are called (I would know, I've probably entered 300 recipes or more Smiley: smile)

I can't seem to do this. Am I supposed to put it in the "Name" field, that doesn't work for me. Can't search the "Base" or "Finish" of an item either.

Like, I want to search for hand armor, and I get at least 2-4 variations of the same armor that really doesn't interest me. Sure I could ignore it, but eventually I can see it becoming 5 or more variations when more are discovered.

Anyway, the database is really comprehensive and easy to use and I can live with the way it is if I'm asking for too much. :)

Ah I see. The ingredients are undyed, but the undyed versions just don't have a color with them. I think your suggestion is a good one, maybe we'll toss it around and see what happens.

The 'Class' filter doesn't seem to work for armor on the Database->Items section.

Query:
Type -> Armor
Class -> Conjurer
Order By -> Rank

Returns no results, but...

Query:
Type -> Armor
Order By -> Rank

Returns expected results.

EDIT: Weapons seem to work by class, but not armor (corrected above).

Yeah, the problem is that everyone can wear everything, so it's more about what's recommended. I think it's termed "Favors" in game.

Re: rewards - If they don't have any listed, we don't know what they are yet and need people to submit it.

Love the Database. It's real helpful. Only problems I have found so far is:

Under recipes > Armorer. The Brass ring(goldsmith item) shows it as a ring not brass rings a mat for making other things.

Under items > weapons > shields. The don't show if they are DoW or DoW & DoM. Example the Tarnished Hoplon was a DoW shield only DoM's couldn't use it as the Square Maple Shield was usable by both DoW & DoM. Not sure if there was other gear like that but something to consider when buying gear.

Just a quick question. Is the current database that we have from the OB going to be used in transition with the opening release or will it be reset? Wasn't sure with possbile numerous patch changes that transpire involving changes to items/quests etc.

Also, I've noticed how many LS recruiting threads there are for each server in the Server Forums. I was thinking of maybe having a sticky on each server for LS recruiting purposes? Otherwise the Forums will be filled with different LS recruits. Well, iunno, it worked well on ffxi.allakhazama and was really easy to look for certain types of LS.

NPC's are "mobs". "mob" is short for "mobile object" and harks all the way back to the old MUDs. So technically all moving things in the game, even other players, are "mobs". So while all NPCs (Non-Player Character) are mobs, not all mobs are NPCs. New MMO players commonly mistake "mob" as a euphemism for "monster" but this is simply incorrect.

In the Database section for quests, maybe start listing where you get the quests and at what physical level or class rank.

Sorry if this has been said ;x.

I dont like the recent changes that force me to scroll over little icons of materials for required synths. I liked just searching and seeing the text, the new way just takes more time. I do alot of crafting and having to scroll over each items picture to see what the required materials are is very changing.

I agree with PinkMermaid, scrolling over for ingredients is definitely worse than having the listed material as it was before.

Would it make sense to sticky a message as a topic at the top of General Discussion to have people take their gripes to the "FFXIV Feedback Forum"? The compaints clutter General Discussion for those of us who enjoy the game and want to talk about it in a constructive manner.

If I have posted this message in the wrong thread, I apologize.

Hi all. Love the DB!

Would it be possible to see all the resources required to craft an item, including the ones needed for the component materials? Would be real neat to have for all of us who like to make things from scratch.

Also, it would be good if you could toggle "craft mode" or something like that, so it always shows the recipes first? As it is now, every item i look at needs a second click in order to see the recipe.

Just wanted to stop in and say thanks for all the work you guys are putting into the DB!

EDIT: As the poster above me said (I just read that after typing this up XD)

It would be nice for subcomponents, like:

Let's say you're looking up information on making a 'Cotton Robe'...

Currently, you need to:
1) Look up cotton robe, find requires 4 craftable subcomponents.
2) Open each subcomponent to determine the crafting/component need, recursively if necessary.
3) Continually bounce between all components while you hunt down total component need for finished product.

But what if...:
1) Look up cotton robe, find requires 4 craftable subcomponents.
2) Expand the recipe with a detailed list of recipes/crafts (recursively, to X levels deep) that go into this synth, with optional totals list.

ASCII Example Go!:

Would it be possible to have a listing for how much NPC vendors will pay for an item?
I thought in beta it was 1/3 of the price they would sell you something, though I think this is all changed now.
Trying to work out items true values, and if its cheaper to sell some bits rather than craft them up, and just buy the refined mats.

Thanacus' idea is really good. Something that lets you click on a link for a craft and see it drop down into its components on the same page would be really convenient. I always end up ctrl clicking all the links and having like 10 tabs open and sometimes up to 20 if I'm alt tabbing a fair bit while in window mode for FF14. I think the added change would take this site's viewing far above the other sites for recipes if that was implemented.

But what if...:
1) Look up cotton robe, find requires 4 craftable subcomponents.
2) Expand the recipe with a detailed list of recipes/crafts (recursively, to X levels deep) that go into this synth, with optional totals list.

...etc...

I just noticed yellow gremlim has something a bit like this.
http://ffxiv.yg.com/recipe/square-maple-shield?id=186
Though that is only recursive to the 1 extra level
So I could see bronze nails need nuggets, though not how to get nuggets.

We already have this, we just need people to post the info for us to enter. Crafting trees keeps coming up, so we're looking into it.
