I ordered FFXIV last month for in-store pick-up on BestBuy.com during their "Pre-order any two games and get a $25 gift card" promotion, along with Fable III, and am thrilled it all worked out!

Their system was screwed up yesterday and they weren't sure if/when they'd be getting it, but this is great news!

Just a heads up for anyone who wants a CE in-store tomorrow; Best Buy should have plenty! Much better choice than Gamestop, as you'll be exactly halfway to a free $10 gift card via the Reward Zone Gamers Club (fast and free to enroll, ask me how, if interested)!

Can't wait!

It might be interesting if someone did a quick photoshop on the date to say 9/21/2010 and managed to pick their copy a little early ^^

Then again, I'm assuming when they enter the order number or scan that barcode it will prompt the store associate not to give you the game.. but you never know.. lolz

lol, too much work and/or potential embarrassment just for a day early!

How were you able to do in store pickup? Both Best Buy and Gamestop said it was unavailable for me and I tried a few months ago. Just checked and they are still unavailable on both websites.

BB's systems allow for a certain number of pre-orders per store, based on overall company levels of inventory and what they expect to get to each store. Now the day before the system will automatically "pick" the orders, that's the email the OP got, and its up to the employees to attach the order slips to games. These are always expected inventory levels meaning sometimes they just don't get as much as expected, so if you order from BB get down there ASAP because if you wait a day or two they might not even have it. I got the email too, but I know I will be down there first thing in the morning just in case. How do I know? I've seen it happen many a times. hehe

Bah, my order's still showing as "confirming inventory" and my local store's now showing as "Unavailable". Probably going to have to call to make sure my two copies will be ready for me (or else switch stores for pickup). :\

No worries! My friend's Best Buy says "Unavailable", too, and he got his e-mail!

Hopefully all works out without my having to switch stores (we've got a lot in the area, I just wanted to do it through our local store). :) But as of right now things are a little confusing there for them, since it's not showing as an item they even sell at that store, so they're having to look into what's up with the system. You'd certainly expect that no matter what, copies that were preordered for store pickup would arrive (even if none would go on the shelf necessarily, it'd just be a "ship to store" delivery). Just worrying is all, especially when the other BBs in town all still show as "Available". But I don't want to move my preorder and risk being SOL for being "too late" and having say preorders 14-15 of 13 shipped to store. >.>

In store pick up isn't available for Canada.

Well, apparently my issue was two-fold:
1. My local store wasn't supposed to get any copies (but there are exactly two copies somewhere in the system destined for there -- my preorders, lol).
2. Apparently the entire region doesn't have any yet (according to a manager at one of the larger stores in town) for some reason. Maybe confusion about the dual release dates, I don't know. So we wouldn't be able to have switched pickup locations and gotten it tomorrow (pretty much guaranteed).

However, at least I am getting free (after credit) next-day shipping to my door so at worst I should have it Thursday, which may very well be better than sticking with a store. >.>

If there's anyone else in Central Texas (or however large BB's region is here) who's got a preorder through Best Buy, CALL YOUR STORE AND VERIFY! Everything seems rather weird about this release, store statuses are strange, nobody seems to know when trucks will be showing up with product (should've already happened but sounds like even though there's copies saying "in stock" in stores here, they aren't really in stock). I wouldn't want anyone here to get surprised on/after release day with news that their preorder hasn't come in yet. :(

You would have gotten your pre-order in the morning if you hadn't changed it and decided to get it shipped.

I do not believe Best Buy (at least in my district, which is about 20 stores) is carrying the CE. All these stores show 0 on hand today, but show some listed as "unavailable - (On Order)" anyway. After doing research on the matter most of the day while I was at work, I found out that they should be coming in on UPS in the morning when our daily UPS shipment comes in. So if you pre-ordered, and selected in-store pickup, it should show up at your Best Buy very early in the morning.

Don't bother calling the store, because they probably won't know the answer unless they themselves are waiting on the game (like me). Took me about a solid hour to find this info out myself.

I don't know, it's possible, but neither the stores nor customer support had any information on when these things might be in. And all stores except the one I ordered at actually show stock, but when the CS rep called one of the stores to confirm the 3 that were showing, he said they didn't actually have stock and the entire region was waiting for who knows how long. Sounded like they knew it wouldn't be tomorrow for sure, but it's possible it could be. *shrug*

But hey, I'm sure if my two copies show up at my local BB, I'll be able to grab those and cancel the shipping since I'm the only person who'd ordered there and they won't be stocking it. ;) We'll see. :)
