nVidia has announced their next line of cards (not down to specifics yet, but they've announced the new architecture).

If you've got a card that can run FFXIV decently right now, sounds like it would be advisable to hold off upgrading until these new Kepler based cards ship in 2011. And if nVidia is raising the bar, you can bet ATI (or is it just Radeon now?) will soon follow.

ATI has already been AMD. O_o They're removing the ATI name and just sticking with Radeon.

Speaking of, Radeon 6xxx family is due out for release in 2011 as well.

I can't keep up with new video cards..*sigh. I have a GTX480 NVIDEA in my computer and an ATI5870 in my sons. We run the benchmarks and both are about equal in performace. Can't really tell the difference ingame. So which is better? I don't know. The ATI seems to be somewhat less costly.

I think the GTX 470 and the Radeon 5870 are supposed to be about equal. They are both pretty much top of the line right now (yes, there are more powerful models, but the benchmarks usually don't place them far enough ahead to justify their massive price increase).

I'm running a Radeon 4850 and the game runs pretty well. Soon as the 5XXX series drops in price though, I'm grabbing a 5850.
