Okay, a bit of a rant, but bear with me:
So months and months ago I went to play a pre-order for the CE edition for FFXIV at my local EB Games/Gamestop. I paid the full amount at the time because I wanted it to feel even more like getting a present on launch day.
After receiving no phone call or email notification, as is customary once a pre-order is received in store*, I call to inquire if they have the game in stock. I'm told that they "oversold their pre-orders", and can only fill 1/4 of them, so it's first come first serve come opening tomorrow. Since I work until the evening and won't be able to go in the morning, I was of course concerned that I might not get one. I asked the salesperson when they were expecting more, and he told me a week.
Seriously, what the **** is the point of pre-ordering if it's not going to be honoured? I understand mistakes happen with stockouts and such, but I have never had this problem anywhere else with anything. Period. Also, considering I probably one of the first people to place a pre-order at that store, shouldn't I be given priority on the pick-up? Is there no first come, first serve anymore?
I feel like Walter in the Big Lebowski:
"Has the whole world gone crazy? Am I the only one around here who gives a sh*t about the rules? Mark it zero!"
Not looking for pity, just want to vent, lol. Anyone else gonna get boned by EB tomorrow? :D
*I used to work for EB games so I know for a fact this is company policy. I have also placed pre-orders with many other companies and always received notice.
