In anticipation for starting my new life in Eorzea, I got to thinking about how small the World Map is. During the Beta, it wasn't much of a challenge to get from one starter city, to the next. Aside from the unexplored parts, there really isn't much topography left to see, is there? Eorzea is mainly a singular continent, with a few surrounding Islands. I wonder how long before it becomes a "Small World" once we set out to explore unhindered.

The game takes place in a world called Hydaelyn, so it would be foolish to not expect more later on from expansions or what not. WHAT IF, Eorzea ends up becoming the fabled "Far East" of FFXI's lore? That would partly explain the similar looking races!

Anyone else think our initial game world won't be all that huge? One thing I look forward to is exploration and discovery. I'd hate to run out of Oh's and Ah's too quickly.

Always exciting to think about. If you look on the north east corner of the Eorzea map, you can see the tip of the land mass where the Garlean Empire is. It's excitig to think what else we'll see on this continent and beyond the edges!

Yeah, seems really small at the moment, but I get the impression it's gonna expand alot.

I dont remember exactly where, but I did read somewhere on ZAM that said that what we have seen is just 1 continent out of 3. Again i cant confirm this. I'm sure the world is much bigger then we have seen. Plus expansions will be a sure thing.

Although, I too was surprised how easy it was to get from city to city in the beta.

This is how I felt. In FFXI, it took some skill (or alot of powders and oils) to safely get from one city to the next. I have fond memories of naked, lvl1 runs to Jeuno. Even in WoW, it took some effort to get to other cities, as many "between" zones had a higher level, and you'd surely die a few times along the way.

Oh-oh. Looks like you guys never went ahead and explored the rest of the zones and dungeons
apart from the areas right next to the three main cities. The latter may be close together,
but there is a lot, lot more in-between than meets the eye ^.-/

Even just moving around 1 section on an area and really exploring it took a fair amount of time, let alone all the areas I didn't find, or got eaten upon entering. I walked a good deal of the map, still never got to Coerthas nor Mor Dhona. At that still leaves a fairly large chunk of visible land yet unexplored.

Let alone places like Nanawa Mines, which I guess would be termed a dungeon.
