No...I'd say like 90% of the people who preordered the CE are going to get their copies tomorrow, the 22nd. What exactly is unfair? I'd also like to point out it is the 22nd in Japan, you know...that place where the servers are located.

I am more angry about all of the threads stating how they are angry about the released date or how others got the game before they did.

Actually... I am not that mad. I just wish someone could take all of the threads talking about the same stuff and make it into a huge thread... where no one will actually read passed the first three posts.

Not really at all. I pre-ordered 2 months ago for the 22nd of Sept. I knew what date I was pre ordering for. So the servers are up early and some people have their copies?

We ordered for the 22nd... you're not losing out on any 'paid game time', because you paid for the 22nd. Stop stamping your feet and have some patience like the rest of us who paid for the 22nd but didn't get the 'early break'.

See you in game tomorrow ^^

At 18:00 (PDT) on Sep. 21, 2010, early access to the Realm of Eorzea will begin.
well i didn't mean to rant(much), and there really is nothing i can do to change anything.
so, ce la vie, i've just been looking forward to this a LONG time. pre-ordered the date it was available for pre-order, and in my eye's i believe if you stand in line (even a virtual one.)
you should be served in that order, not by geographic region, religion, ***, etc.

i see this as me losing one night i could have played if this was done in a more fair and scheduled manner.

Again, in Japan it is September 22nd. The servers are based in Japan, so stop acting like the world resolves around North America. You'll get to play tomorrow like the rest of us.

Sometimes I think it would be better if MMO developers didn't announce their games in development at all. Just do a same date release day worldwide...***** the CE early play crap, and don't tell anyone that the game is coming out. That way all we'd have gotten is some blurb from Australia today along the lines of, "Holy ****! Make just went down to the video game store today to look around and look what he found! Final Fantasy XIV!!" And then word would spread like wildfire and later this evening we'd be all like, "Holy ****! FFIXV??!! When are we going to be able to get it here? Tomorrow?!?!?! Holy **** that's awesome omfg!!"

Right now it's like all the kids are bounin' around waiting for Santa Claus, only with Santa Claus, part of the lore is that if you don't stfu and go to sleep, you get jack.

So chill, ya? Hate to see you open your CE box tomorrow and find naught but a lump of coal.

So if the game has a midnight release party in the east coast and sales begin at 12:01 AM on the 22nd, does that mean that people in Hawaii should be allowed to buy their game at 7:01 PM on the 21st so that they can have it at the 'same time' as the east coast people?

But wait, that means they are getting it the 21st while we on the east coast have to wait until the 22nd. That's complete BS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If they get it on the 21st than I **** well better get it on the 21st too!!

But then the people in hawaii will still have to wait 5 hours after we get it in the east coast, now that's not fair...

...oh no, we've created a never ending time paradox, the very fabric of the universe is unraveling! We need a rank 50 weaver to fix this right away...

I know, the easiest fix is to do away with time zones, that way everywhere in the world will have the exact same time and the same day! Brilliant! Sucks for those who have to go to the store at 3 AM to get their copy, but oh well, it's not me, and that's all that matters.

meh,

you're all right, of course, gotta calm down and just chill.

i'm sure it's not like they are all sitting a room laughing at us, although that would be pretty cool and diabolical.

Hi guys,

first post.
didn't mean to make it a negative one, however i'm pretty upset at how this release was handled.

I make it a point to pre-order every game i play, simply because i like being apart of the whole 'new frontier' movement in regards to moving the game forward.

Amazon ordered, release date shipping, etc.
all set to get the game, it will be here tomorrow.

the servers go live in just over 2 hours.....
turns out square-enix kinda fibbed a little on the release date. it's the 22nd, somewhere .. not.. here.

so not only did i pay for about a half day or so that i wont be able to play, it seems a certain area of the world are the only ones that are going to have the game on time to play for the actual 'go-live' time frame.

now granted, there could be massive issues causing the game to be down and issues always come up with releases like this. I am sure i wont be missing much by not being in the first 12-20 hours of play, while i wait at work tomorrow annoyed and upset that i'm not even going to get it installed and patched until at the earliest tomorrow night.

But come on, doesn't this seem a little unfair to you guys?

~Cole.

Get over it.

Well it is a same day release everyone gets it on the 22nd, however the world doesn't have just one time zone. It's also entirely possible they are taking advantage of the time zone differences to help ease server congestion. To say avoid things like happened with the open beta applications. It does however make since that a company from Japan would start on Japan's time.

it's not a time paradox.

game gets released to everyone on the 21st,
gets sold in stores on the 21st,
game goes live the 22nd, everyone can start at the same time.

how is this a complicated strategy to grasp?
#15Chubbyjesus, Posted: Sep 21 2010 at 5:20 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Whats unfair is us feeling as if we are most important. We are buying a foreign game, its on THEIR time, and honestly its our (if youre NA) own rules holding us back, as the games are already in at alot of locations. 22nd is the date, like it or not. If you want to play when a japanese player does, move to Japan.

Mr. Wonka is gonna turn you into a blueberry for being naughty. We get to go in the chocolate factory early, I doubt half a day is really going to make that much of a difference. Besides, you didn't pay for "half a day" you won't be able to play, you payed for the release date.. Which is tomorrow.

I'm glad they are running the servers a tad early. Wouldn't you like someone to make sure the ice track is all fine and dandy before you go luging?

You're not upset that you can't play FFXIV yet, you are just upset that someone else can. You are like a guy that dumps a girl he doesn't like and doesn't regret it at all until she starts seeing someone else. Then all of the sudden he can't get the thought of someone else enjoying spending time with her right at that moment out of him mind. It drives him crazy.

Well guess what. A lot of people in Japan and many even in the US have their hands all over Final Fantasy XIV right now.... Close your eyes, can you see them playing it? They are playing long and hard. Really, really hard. Oh **** yeah, they're playing the @#%^ out of the game and you're just sitting there by yourself. How's it feel?

This is actually a good thing, guys. Think of it this way:

Because the timing of the release is staggered, all 3 regions go online for the first time at 3 different times.
This means that there isn't one giant, massive DDOS-like attack on the login/lobby servers as well as SE Account registration all at once. There will be 3, significantly smaller waves on SE's servers.

MMO launches are usually disastrous. This will help with that a lot.

This. Just letting everyone rush out of the gates worldwide at the same time results in a disaster every time. It'll still be extremely busy, but it could be worse.
