Seems

quite

shady

to me...

I already linked my card, but haven't processed any charges yet. I'm thinking I may just remove my card from their system and back away slowly.

The stories from the first two links, especially, sound horrid. Still processing charges after canceling the service and demanding they stopped, with answering machines in foreign languages, and the only solution being to cancel the card in question?

S-E is getting really shady at this point...

I'm using the other option. I already had a Paypal account setup so it's very easy with nothing to worry about. I remember how a lot of people rejoiced when they heard there was no more POL. Kinda funny how POL seems good again next to this.

buying crysta with a ultimate game card was... er... well I would say easy but it was confusing for me cause I never used them before but now I would say it is easy.

It was hard finding one though - both 7-11s near here were out. I found them at a drug store though. Sucks I buy the **** cards in canuck dollars- then everything is charged in american dollars - so a 20 buck card doesn't equal a 20 dollar chunk of crysta >.>

In the future I'll do the debit through paypal if that indeed works.

My advice would be to change the cards on the playspan website into points because you get some bonus points whereas you get no bonus points if you use the ultimate game card direct from the SE website to begin with.

Aren't the Canadian and US dollar more or less even right now?

Edit: $20 USD is $20.48 in canadian dollars. That's not worth complaining about o.O

well not trying defend Click and Buy, but people usually only write a review about a company that offers a service when they are not satisfied. just look at paypal on them website links and they didnt do much better.

Crysta seems like an useless payment method imo, i know the intention is to set aside cash for payments etc, but can't see myself using it, unless they bring out stuff that is only crysta payable.

Also for those that don't know about payment also, you can pay in 30, 60 and 180 day cycles. so if you have the cash you can pay twice a year, 6 times a year or standard 12 times a year

Crysta is used for more and was used more at SE store etc. (And was mainly JP only iirc)..so it may seem pointless but it was mainly to extend its uses even more and actually open it to the west.

Just to be some what of a devils advocate here, paypal has just as many bad reviews. Its just the luck of the draw. Every one of these kind of sevices have bad experinces as well as good ones. Its just that people tend to post alot more when things go wrong.. but dont post when everything goes smooth.

^This. People only write reviews if they are upset. Citing Paypal is perfect b/c it is a good company which I have never had any problems with and no one I know has either yet it had terrible reviews on those same websites. But I think SE used click and buy because EUs are familiar with them and they used Paypal because NAs are familiar with them. If you aren't comfortable with CB then just use Paypal, a NA trusted payment option.

edit: although I do appreciate the OP bring this to our attention.

So let me get this one straight, i use my money to purchace crysta, to then use this crysta to then purchace something else.... am i the only one seeing this?! i mean in real life the only comparison i can think of is a prepaid credit card, i use my money to load this card yeah, then i use the card to order online or pay for something elsewhere, difference is i can use that card almost anywhere crysta is Stuck with SE, so unless they just want bags load of money for nothing until they release an item etc, i see no logic in it?

Also Sorry for going off topic /blush

Paypal really is a terrible company in some aspects, and a lot of what's said about them is deserved. If you're a buyer, Paypal is decent. If you're a seller, good luck to you when something inevitably goes wrong.

If you want to read bad, go look up Sirius radio cancellation issues, I had to contact BBB to get them to stop billing me. I finally got someone in their Corporate headquarters to stop it!

I have used C&B for sometime now and found them easy to setup and deal with. If you live in the USA and really don't want to deal with them then go to your nearest Walmart and buy the Ultimate game card. The other option uses those. I think its a great ideal and one that SE should have been using a long time ago. WoW was smart and used a game card. You have to remember not all player base will be old enough to have a CC and not all parents are happy to give out CC info. Now people without a card can play too. Kudos SE!

well that may be so but I had to pay more than 20 dollars for 20 dollars worth of crysta... and tax on the card thing I bought.... lol

but still better than having to ask my girlfriend to use her credit card. That's sort of sad.

It seems like the UK paypal... I used my paypal card to register, so if there is any problems, I can easily dispute it.

I watched their ABOUT video and read some feedback on them, they seem like an up and coming company, might not last... but I bet the Square Enix support will help them a lot.

Also I doubt Square Enix would work with some random company
