Check the Event Viewer in Windows to see what's causing the crashing. If it's because of atiumdag.dll, see this thread.

Update to ATI Drivers 10.8 should fix your problem.

Also, it would be a huge favor if you could run dxdiag (Windows key + R, type 'dxdiag' with no quotes) and tell us what version of DirectX you have, since it is new.

If installing the new drivers isn't working properly you may need to do a clean install of the video drivers.

Mobility drivers are only using 10.8 at the moment.

When you run the Catalyst Control Center and go to Inforcenter, what Catalyst Version does it say? And give the Catalyst Control Center Version at the bottom.

For mobility 10.8 is latest, 10.9 had issues and we have to wait for 10.10.

Dell/Alienware may have special drivers designed for their own laptops, try checking dell's website for their custom video driver downloads?

i think i found out why it wasnt working. i have the ati catalyst for 10.8 but after the install i read the chatlog and its saying that the display driver failed to install, any idea why that would be happening? and how can i fix that so that the drivers will be correct?

That ends up happening if you're running driver sweeper after having extracted the catalyst setup files to a temporary directory. Driver Sweeper recognizes the drivers and then deletes them, causing the installation to fail when it comes to the actual driver.

Try redownloading after completely sweeping ATI software/drivers? Just to ensure you don't corrupt it.

Hello, I am having the same problem, but for a different reason. my Atiumdag doesn't seem to have an issue, or doesn't get a chance to because it's ffxivboot.exe that has the exception. I am running on a Windows vista 32 bit system with an ATI radeon xp 1950 with 10.2 drivers and all windows updates attained. the Event log for my exception is as follows

Faulting application ffxivboot.exe, version 1.0.0.0, time stamp 0x4c355192, faulting module ffxivboot.exe, version 1.0.0.0, time stamp 0x4c355192, exception code 0xc0000005, fault offset 0x0002c920, process id 0xae4, application start time 0x01cb5a76e025bbc7.

I had the same exact problem in the beta but the devs told me they're not supporting the beta nd basically said I was SOL. Now the game itself is out and I am still having the same issue (surprise surprise) Anyways, Any help here would be appreciated.

A friend of main had problems with crashes on start up and a re-boot solved it.
